Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Love that she kept part of the old walls. Great feature to the house.

Big time. Really attractive features. But absolutely hate the two reception rooms. They look so dreary and cold.

God that would break your heart, all that stress for nothing.
Wonder if the plan was always to flip it.

Can’t for the life if me see how that restoration was done, with that level of finish for €500k

I thought she did well getting the work done for 500k , the problem was that she paid 500k for 4 iffy walls!

Nice illustrated feature on the house here:
    www.image.ie/interiors/phibsborough-home

Fiona still seems to own the house despite the odd listing on the Property Price Register mentioned above.

She may have sold it to herself as a way of getting a mortgage in it. She may have used savings or a loan with higher interest to do the work. She seems to have founded her own cyber security company..

Fair play to her, she's some woman. Best of luck to her

Interesting article in The Times. She took advantage of the Living City Initiative and will be able to claim tax relief on the renovation cost for 10 years.

Another 5 month schedule, about 1 month per building in this case, I wonder what will happen...

This project looks like it could get out of hand very quickly given they have no architect

No track suits or trainers here!!

Nice place but they didn't exactly maximize the potential.

Nice couple, very interesting family history. I LOVED their outdoor room

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,995 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

    Fairly boring episode.

I'm always amazed at people's surprise that their 100/200 year old roof may have a problem. Budget as if you've to replace it all, anything salvageable is then a bonus.

The window in the living room seemed tiny.... I was expecting a dermot gannon wall of glass if I'm honest :)

I wonder if the courtyard will ever get glazed, it's lovely the way it is, so long finger job I'd say.

I liked the end product, though I wasn't wowed, and I'm only expecting wow because it's on the TV.

They seemed a lovely couple and what a place to bring up children, may they have many years of happiness there.

SMH. This country is a disgrace and far from what I thought it was when growing up. These poor people have it so tough.

I can’t think of anything more impractical. During the vast majority of the year, you’ll have all kinds of creatures running over the furniture. There’s not too many days in this country you could see yourself sitting in what’s basically a shed without the sun to give warmth. It’d wanna be some heatwave.

Bar that I liked it. The interior design was fantastic:

Thought it’d have made more sense for granny ( dunno if grandad was alive) to move into the bit they’d already done and let the family e move into the big house.....they’ll be moving in there eventually by the looks of things.

I'm watching this on +1. Shameful history of this country, that’s just glossed over.

My heart breaks for these poor people. The hardship that they try to imagine that they're going through on this property that their family owns. The grandparents and their nightmare stories are... what normal grandparents experience and embrace.

The show is a farce. If anything should be discussed, it's when they went into the history of the house, and how the Irish were treated. BS, said on show throughout, of how this couple struggled. I get that they've to make compelling and entertaining TV, but, please don't insult me or the audience. I'm not even allowed give my full honest opinion anymore.

The show is about reviving old property. He's an architect not an historian.

I dont think Granny was to impressed when they all landed in to live with her for the few months

Granny quickly got sick of them and kicked them out of the big house. Thought money would be better spent doing up bigger house and making a Granny flat for the Grump.

Always wonder why anyone goes on this show, what exactly do they get out of it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 786 ✭✭✭vladmydad

Why not just get the ceilings replasterd and lay new flooring over the old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,967 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

It just doesn't look like its worth the effort from the outside no matter what they do.

How they cut and eat pizza with a fork and knife is troubling

I know, it’s a pity the tv show insist on the drama, say it’s hopeless, then hey presto it’s all amazing!

Really? Fair play if so, I just find it a stretch that 1 woman and 2 contractors could finish what's essentially a boutique hotel in 18 months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,658 ✭✭✭✭ted1

Love it. Can’t believe my 3 bed semi D, is worth more/ costs more !!!

    Big house for two people!!

    The sheep are gas :)

Lovely finish. Can't fault anything really, though mannequins would probably scare the bejaysus out of me :D

I'd a feeling they were going to do some type of business as a massive property for 2 people.
