Wish Nakamura had never went to WWE, it absolutely ruined him as a wrestler. I can understand why he wanted to take the money and take less bumps of course, but all the rockstar, the artist stuff and his ridiculous attire, all so cringe, the man was one of the best on the planet before he went there.

The pop he got that night against Zayn, they had a star on their hands, now he is what he is. Back to Japan please Nakamura!

You’d take significantly more damage on your body working for WWE than in NJPW. In Japan, aside from the likes of G1 once a year, unless you’re working a big singles match which you might do 8-10 times a year outside of G1, you’re working tag matches specifically for the purposes of allowing wrestlers to appear but give their bodies time to heal. In WWE, regardless of what you think of the quality of his work, he could be doing 3-4 singles matches per week during normal times. And the stuff that damages wrestlers’ bodies typically isn’t the spectacular stuff you see in GIFs etc, it’s the smaller more standard stuff you wouldn’t even think about. So yeah, working for WWE full-time would be way more taxing than any other scenario I’ve personally heard of in wrestling.

I think when he’s been interviewed he’s cited always wanting to live in America and close to the beach with his family as the reason he moved. Wrestlers love having great matches, obviously, but when evaluating where they’re going to wrestle it comes down to this kinda stuff first and foremost because the thinking is that they can have great matches wherever they go. And that’s true to a point, if Nakamura has a stinker against Finn Balor that happens to be in a WWE ring, it’s on him first and foremost. Like any job, part of your skill is being able to adapt to different situations and challenges. If you’re only good in one specific scenario, are you really that good at all because what if your employer needs you to do something else? You’re paid to be an asset to the company you work for, they don’t pay you then build the business around your specific skillset, no job on the planet works that way. Only in wrestling have I seen people not consider that a reflection of the talent.

The thing about Nakamura is that despite being a great wrestler he did have a reputation for being lazy in the ring at times. He could have some great matches when he was motivated but sometimes was known to half ass it a little. While that might work in New Japan, I could see a guy like Vince McMahon being turned off by him because he doesn't come across as someone who "grabs the brass ring". So part of the reason he is where he is now and not a world champion is WWE not wanting to take a chance with him.

So you're saying he's like Orton? Can go when he wants to but is just coasting most of the time.

I have the limited edition Naito baseball jersey from LIJ that I got living in Japan. EVERY time I wear it I get compliments on it as it's just a really cool looking jersey. Those and the bullet club had some cool designs too but I can't really wear those anymore living in liberal America :D

Had a few Stone Cold knock offs when I was kid.

Sometimes I'd be tempted to get something if I see a nice design. Really wanted to get a bullet Clun umbrella.....then realised that probably wouldn't translate well over here going for the train at rush hour. :pac:

I do be tempted to but never seem to pull the trigger on it

I do find a lot of them quite poor lately but I actually thought gallows and Anderson put out a few good ones last few days

Haha I have that too, never an issue at home with it but wouldn't really use outside of Japan or Ireland really. Could cause some bother.

Memories of going to car boot kind of sales when I was younger which had all the stalls of knock off pop culture stuff. Slipknot/Him/Metallica and wrestling clothing galore

I have the Undertaker t-shirt with him coming down the ramp on the motorbike, WWF.com logo on the back. I got it at Insurrextion in London 2001. Still get wear out of it. Definitely my favourite.

I've only two shirts left out of a few I had, and those are the Wrestlemania 26: I was there & a Bret Hart one that I picked up in Phoenix.

Watched Summerslam 2000 last night on the Network and think it’s one of the strongest PPVs ever.

So many fun matches including Eddie/Chyna vs Val Venis/Trish with Chyna becoming IC champion and Shane McMahon/Blackman match for the Hardcore title where Shane takes that ridiculous bump.

The first ever TLC match 20 years on still stands the test of time. The crowd are so hot for it and the innovation at the time still looks amazing.

Main event of HHH/Angle/Rock where the world title was basically a side story to the whole Kurt kissing Steph angle.

The thing that really stood out for me tho was how good JR/King are on commentary. It makes a PPV so much easier to watch compared to now, it was peak JR/Lawler at that time. Even loved the JR smashing the glass jar over Tazz’s head spot to give King the win over him.

Seems he moved to the US early on, given he was on a High School wrestling team. Maybe he'd have been known locally better by his real name - Larold Weil?

Watching Medical Police on netflix and checked imdb to confirm Carlito was in it. Turned out it was Primo. Hair the same as Carlito and looks the spit of him, no pun intended.
