Mary Kennedy. She's been on RTE more often since retiring than she was before.

You leave Mary alone, she’s lovely (IMO)

Agree with the above. Too much of a lady to pick up on Ray's astonishment that she hasnt done full interview type programmes before ....I remember her having an hour long chat and mysic show with a guest on Saturday mornings before Marian F took that slot

He said he felt like an impostor yesterday morning in a room full of writers.
I imagine he'd feel the same if he found himself in a room full of professional broadcasters.

God help the poor man on today, but another story to cheer up the nation on a bleak afternoon during a very bleak week.

I don't listen to this show at all, but turned on whilst out doing some garage cleaning, and the 1st thing I heard was brain cancer. My immediate thought was 'typical Darcy '.

Having said that, the guy was good to listen to. A real inspiration after what he has been through.

But again rte, why so many negative and sad news? Surely there must be more light hearted news out there somewhere?

I appreciate these pieces are important to highlight and make us aware of, but not all the time. Maybe try and mix it up a bit?

Murder is "perfect for this time of the year."

Speaking about the book she is reading saying it is full of murder so perfect for this time of year.
    Feck sake.
Joe Duffy also made a stupid remark about their being no guns in Ireland.
Do these people not listen to the news on the hour?

Sadly, her mother’s bins didn’t make it, and will have to wait until next week to be collected.

Huge plug for auld TurnipHeads book on place names yesterday.

When will it be Brian Lally’s turn for a book, one wonders.

Or Samantha Libreri...... ‘Nooze for you’ would be a good title.

Par for the course this time of year, Ben.

The first four guests on the Late Late last night were flogging books too. The fifth was flogging an RTE show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,774 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,775 ✭✭✭bmorrissey

I noticed he was saying 'ye' today instead of 'you' like Brendan O'Connor.

I thought he was from Kildare.
