Prob was asked for 2 examples in each. I think in one they asked for 3 examples so always have backups. If they asking or redirecting you it's just dem not happy with your first example.

Maybe a little bit of a digression, but did anyone apply for the communication officer competition?

I was rejected today, with the worst reasoning imaginable, given my experience and the depth of the application I made.

I know we can't canvass, but is there any way to appeal? Genuinely incredulous to be not even make it past the first stage.

    What was the reason?

I was told I didn't exhibit understand of social media, despite having a masters degree in a related field and tonnes of experience. There's worse things happening in the world, but my head is spun from that.

Canvassing is using your contacts or influence or the influence of others such as a politician to better your chances.

You are entitled to appeal any decision, however interview appeals are abit of lost cause as they normal side with the interviewers given there is usually 3 on the board and they have to agree on the outcome.

Cheers for this. Do you know how to apply?

Was I think specialist knowledge and public service values rolled into 1. They did not ask me much on the specialist knowledge side coz they said I had demonstrated that throughout. On my application form I only had a level 6 at the time and was in the middle of my level 7. I just finished a level 8 in business management wit a 1.1 and explained throughout how it helped and enhanced my management skills in my current role.

Seems a bit harsh if that's the case.

Cheers for this. Do you know how to apply?

Did you get eliminated on eligibility grounds or at Interview stage?

    https://www.publicjobs.ie/en/review-process

If eligibility ground you can email the eo section to require an Informal review of your application. If it was at the interview stage, you will likely need to submit a formal review by email to the CEO of PAS.

I received an email this morning saying my place had been reached on the Kerry panel. I was offered the Dept of Social Protection. Do they allow people to work from home due to COVID? I’m currently working from home as a CO in Dept of Justice. I’m really worried about accepting if I can’t work from home.

Hi there, just wondering if you ended up accepting this position in the end? I'm also on the Kerry Panel so just curious :) Thanks.

The wait is killing me if get placed. Only a week since got results of interview but I constantly checking my phone hoping for a message from PAS. Be hard to go back through the whole process again. Hopefully there a lot of retirements in Westmeath.

I accepted it. Best of luck! The panel jumped at least 5 places to reach me. It might reach you soon!

That's great, the very best of luck in your new position! I'm No. 11 in batch 1.3 so I'm praying I'll be reached before the panel expires :)

Has there been any movement on the Louth Panel does anyone know?

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭Bobby2004

Anyone placed lately in Galway or Westmeath. It's mad I can't get an answer of how many ahead of me or placed from PAS.

Thank you! They surely will reach you. I was 8 in 1.3. You should email PAS and they’ll tell you how far they are. This is the one I use clearance@publicjobs.ie

Did anyone hear anything about Laois or Kilkenny recently?

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭Bobby2004

3 candidates between me and getting called but said there is no forecast for other vacancies. If that's the case they've interviewed a whole other batch for nothing😢

  • Registered Users Posts: 162 ✭✭fergald

No movement in Laois at all. Wife I think was placed 14 after exam not even an interview. Not a hope by the looks of it.

It's a joke. I'm no 2 in batch 1.4. If there is no more forecasted vacancies what the point of interviewing a 4th batch.

Booby2004. I am presuming this is internal or Kilkenny as they only interviewed 10 in total for Laois. Yeah total mess.

Suppose there another 3 months b4 panel ends but to start a new one when sum counties not out of the teens or 20s placed is unbelievable. Was suppose to be a lot of retirements come Oct. Obviously not if there no forecasted vacancies.

Given you had an interview recently and got the results quite quickly, I'd suggest there is vacancies coming, if not why not just wait given there is an new competition.
