600ft up in the McGillycuddys NE of Sneem.

In the last 5 minutes we had a gust which was 30% stronger than anything yet. Sustained wind, with long gusts, torrential rain.

Really picking up ugly now, cant believe its 2 hours till it peaks.

Wind walloping the windows in Douglas, Cork. Lashing rain. The bins are making banging sounds and I am lamenting that this always seems to happen on Bin Day...

Strongest winds just before everyone wakes up. Will be easing then.

Here are approximate timings for the peaks of the worst winds, so that we can cut the "load of nothing" posts out before they start.

    South-west coast: 2/3am
    Cork/South coast: 5/6am
    Midlands: 5/6am
    South-east: 6/7am
    Dublin/East Coast/Ulster: 7/8am
    Galway/Mayo: 12pm/1pm
    Donegal: 4/5pm
Limerick: might peak twice here, first around 2am, then again around 11am/12pm.

The big gap with the west is because they're largely escaping the initial frontal winds, and getting hit more by the core winds as the storm centre passes to the west later on.

Dublin's weather warning only kicked in a minute before your post, at 12:01am... (And is due to last for 9 hours.)

I'm out in D24 and winds are picking up now. It was very still when I was outside about 2hrs ago, but the wind has started wailing down the chimney in the last half hour or so.

Calm before the storm here in South Sligo - a little bit inland but hilly hoping to escape the worst of it. Storm Ali was fierce here.

I'm in north county Dublin. The wind has definetly picked up in the last 40 minutes. Runway change at Dublin airport is seeing Rwy 16 in use, which is a also down to change of wind speed and direction

Cork Airport forecast going for gusts up to 65knots up to 3am along with moderate rain. not a night to be out. All the other airports forecasting nothing to severe at all.

No, Cork had no ground crew. Only 1 knot stronger than Shannon, and much less of a crosswind.
