I too felt Whelan was a bit greedy tonight with some of his choices. One in the second half in particular when there were runners off him and he was shooting off balance. He still gets through a power of work though. Was also surprised Niall Burke came off as early as he did. Did your man even get a yellow for the blatant holding of his hurl in the first half for the goal chance?? JC missed a few easy (for him) and the free where he went for a goal was unlucky. Obviously if he got it we'd be singing his praises. Is there anything to be said for putting him in FF? Even for 10 mins. He was unplayable in there in years gone by.
And finally, Conor Cooney has to be one of the most infuriating players. Bundles of skill but he just seems to be lacking confidence or something. I would have thought he should have been thrown in to FF for a bit too. Would also have liked to see Niland get a bit of a run too.

The best of luck to joycey and the footballers today.

See below galway bench as per match programme. No Comer there but expect a late announcement pre throw in that he will wear 26 instead of Costello. Joyce has gone for experience and size on the bench with likes of o curraion back in who hasn't featured for him at all during the year. Steede is a big addition for the bench also.

    Galway Subs for today's game
    16. C Gleeson
    17. G Bradshaw
    18. K Molloy
    19. G O'Donnell
    20. C Sweeney
    21. R Steede
    22 F Ó Curraoin
    23. R Finnerty
    24. Jason Leonard
    25. G Sice
    26. L Costello

Not much point in ya turning up at all according to a lot of mayo supporters. Be a nice day to win . Having said that we have it all to do missing daly and comer they would Defo be 2 of our best 5 . Anyway that’s what panels are for and hopefully other lads will step up. Be interest to see if team named starts . Best of luck to the lads .

I'll be very surprised if we win today. I think it will take Mayo thinking we're as bad as we were in Tuam that day and us significantly improving from our performance against Dublin. It was far too tentative. If we throw caution to the wind and go for it, its our best chance of getting a result.

We have a few on or thread that think that way but the vast majority know we are in for a fight ****t1y weather and a strict ref

Nonsense to say a lot. The vast majority of mayo supporters see it as a 50/50.

O Donnell in for Flynn, Comer on the bench

If we push up we could end up forcing them to bring AOS back out the field. Roscommon had the upper hand in middle on long kickouts. With O Donnell coming in there now it doesnt look like we will.

Is flynn injured? He will be a loss around the middle

Im thinking the same thing but nothing from the galway camp. Dont think O Donnell has the legs for 70 mins

Conceding the kickout and mayo pushing up. Stupid tactics from us.

Walsh is wasting a lot of possession.

This is awful tripe so far. Wonder what we do in training as we certainly don't coach anything of note.

Horan has improved Mayo despite declining resources.
We look as bad as we did under KW despite continued underage success.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,032 ✭✭✭threeball

Terrible crap. 15mins in and the writing on the wall. Concede possession and chase your tail for the rest of the day.

This game will be over by half time. Galway losing possession all over the park.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,693 ✭✭✭ShamNNspace

We're lucky to be only 3 points down

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,032 ✭✭✭threeball

If a team bothered their hole working on the mark they could pick off 10pts a game.

Monaghan worked on it the year it was introduced and then used it successfully in the league beating Dublin by its use.

I know it's galway's first game, but still, Galway are pretty poor.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,693 ✭✭✭ShamNNspace

We can't hold onto the f**kin ball

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,032 ✭✭✭threeball

Mayo have gotten away with 5 blatant pushes in the back

If you haven't bothered working on kickout you can forget about that.

You see all of our kickouts as we're that slow restarting, youd miss half of Dublins.

Clearly no coaching of the inches going on, probably jog a few laps, do some hand passing and kick passing drills that have no real game experience and then play a match before going home.

Stop. Where the f**k are our frees.

    Two Kelly's lads. Outstanding.

  • Registered Users Posts: 693 ✭✭✭grbear

Should be dead and buried really so happy enough to be only three down.

Only 3 in it considering how poor you played. With the wind at their back Galway definitely in this game now with quick ball down to the forward lines.
