I was assigned to DSP today, for those of you who have been assigned there too, did it take long for their personnel section to contact you with a start date?

So it sounds like everyone is getting assigned to DEASP which isn't too much of a shock at the moment. Has anyone been assigned anywhere else recently?

Not me as I get to stay where I am but I know one person who got assigned to dept of health a few weeks ago, so that's always a possibility.

Looks like I’m staying where I am. Hope everyone else is not waiting too long !

I got told on Friday I was going to DSP.
    Waiting to hear what location.
Can I ask who told you probably a week for release date?
I'm currently helping another team as my team hasn't enough work at the moment. So I can't imagine it should be too long. I just wanna know where I'm going? Hope they pick a location near where I live

A week seems like very short notice.. I thought the standard notice period was a month ?

Can any current civil servants (particularly from the last batch) confirm how long after they sent in their documents and their line manager returned their reference they got a placement?

I had my interview in mid August. I was assigned a Department within 5 days of my line manager returning a reference but it was then 2 weeks before I heard back from LHR to confirm location, start date etc.

I just read that back. Its not very clear.. I received an assignment in a random department which I wont be in a position to accept. I had requested to stay in my dept which i know was only a request however i got offered a random dept, Im in the middle of some specialist external courses and they just wouldn't fit.

Hopefully the placement gets offered to someone else on the panel that it would suit

Double check, sometimes they're not fully aware you're to stay.

Hi appreciate a bit of guidance from anyone who has been through this before.
If you get an assignment to a department with wide ranging responsibilities is it acceptable to ask where you'll be allocated or to express a preference. I've had an offer of a department where some aspects would be of interest and others not at all.
    Thanks.

Usually when you're assigned to a department they'll already know where you'll be placed. No harm to contact the HR of that department and ask what section you'll be working in

Oh really was it 2 weeks I got told my departure by PAS email the 25th September and have not heard from the LHR yet..I was just about to follow up but maybe I should leave it until the end of the week so that would be 2 weeks

Hi, I have sent in my qualifications on Monday and waiting for assignment. I believe I am being assigned to the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. I am wondering if anyone can say they do or have worked there and would recommend the Department as a place to work or not? Thanks so much :)
