I picked up 2 dots and a smart plug for €68. Seems like a decent deal. DID are selling the smart plug for €30

It works without VPN, but you can't use iplayer and stuff. Netflix and stuff are fine.

This is the stick they recommend for non-UK customers: https://www.amazon.com/Fire-Stick-Basic-International-Version/dp/B01ETRGE7M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1531757655&sr=8-3&keywords=fire+tv+stick+basic

Thanks for help, I went and ordered the fire stick in the £24.99 deal which came up as £20.18 using the student15 voucher code. If it's an issue I'll return it

Is there a normally a deal on the price of prime itself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,084 ✭✭✭n1ck

Just picked up the yi 1080p ip camera. I have the 720p version and this is impressive used with the cloud. I also picked up the fire stick. The tv is not a smart tv so im not even sure it with work on it.

It will work, I used to use mine on a non-smart tv. You just change input to whatever HDMI port and away you go.

Someone posted on another thread saying they didn't discount or intend to, at least not on schedules to prevent people holding off on subbing on Prime day.

Ahh ****e - got a Ryobi Hedge Trimmer I had my eye on as part of Prime Day.
    Just got the dispatch notice:
Your item(s) is (are) being sent by IPARCEL_IE_EXPRESS
God only knows when it will arrive

I've already ordered an echo and 2 echo dots

Trying hard to resist adding to my collection of Hue bulbs

Wife would chew me out though if I bought anything else. My claims about "saving money" are wearing a bit thin.

Just got prime, is the video catalogue usually this crap? Or does the UK get better options?

Contact customer services and ask them to change your prime location to the UK and you will have the full UK catalogue.

Just put in Parcel Motel or something like that as your main address and leave your default delivery address as your Irish address. Contact them and ask them to change your Prime address to the UK

I did it during the week. It only took a couple of minutes.

Is there no customer service generic address? I tried to find something yesterday to report a dodgy seller.

Does having Prime remove the need to spend over £25 to get free delivery?

Doing well from this so far!
Signed up for Student Prime, 6 months free and £3.99 per month after. (Bought a NUS card after signing up for an online course)
Prime video all working ok with a UK address.
Bought the £80 gift card and got £10 free.
Got 2 Echo Dots and the TP link Smart Plug for £48.
Kindle Paperwhite for £59.99 using the £15 off a £60 spend for student accounts.
A Yi Dash Cam and Home Security Camera for around £40.
And finally a Fire HD 8 tablet for £34 with the 20% off Warehouse orders!

A good day of bargain hunting!

How long did it take for the NUS card to be sent out to you? , I signed up for an ECareers course and applied for the NUS card on Friday, hoping it comes before the end of this week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,038 ✭✭✭✭adox

So I signed up and have ordered 3 separate items from the Prime sale.

The first one I had to send to Parcel Motel(not a problem as I knew it wouldn’t deliver to Ireland) it’s taking 2 days to get to Parcel Motel!

Placed the other two orders earlier today. First one has dispatched. My heart sank when I hit the tracking button and saw it was with I-parcel. Read some bad stuff about them on here. The expected delivery date is next Monday!

The last item is preparing for dispatch with an estimated delivery for Tuesday of next week! A week!!

I’m not impressed at all with the delivery times. Is it worth getting onto chat to complain?

I just used my Parcel Motel address, the card will be sent out to there and then PM will deliver it to me in Ireland

I signed up for an ECareers course too and then registered with NUS. Download the NUS app and sign in. Tap "account" and take a screenshot of that page (has your picture and card number). Then email a request to:

    amazon-student-verification@amazon.co.uk

    I literally wrote the following:

    "Hi,
I would like to change my prime account (xxxxxxx@gmail.com) to a Prime Student account if possible please? I have attached a screenshot of my NUS Extra Card details for verification."

Got a reply about 2 minutes later with a link of where to sign up without needing a .edu email address.

Whole process took about 30 minutes! To the poster who asked about addresses, I used my Parcel Motel address for the NUS Card sign up.
