I once ordered a Pantry box which was at 97% full and they split it into 2 boxes which cost me and extra PW delivery. I got on to Amazon and explained it all and they refunded the extra PW cost.

If they are splitting your orders just email them and explain the situation.

I ordered two items late Friday & chose free Ireland delivery. I was given a date of the 22nd. They just emailed to say the package will arrive on the 17th & I am not a Prime user.

I just had a quick look at prime video Germany. As good a selection or better than UK. Might be worth looking at on 31st March when UK leave the EU.

I think your prime membership covers all of the EU unlike having USA prime that's no good in the EU

I guess the no-rush delivery system where you get some extra credit for standard delivery doesnt work with Irish addresses then even if you have a UK account?

I noticed this the last time I ordered. Must be some complex algorithms keeping track of when a item should be shipped. I had an option of priority (trial of Prime), standard and no-rush.

I'd imagine it's quite a wait for no-rush seeing as an order a few weeks ago for standard took 2 weeks to dispatch.

Echo is down to £60, Dot is down to £30.

Looks like it started but Prime itself doesn't seem to have a discount this year (yet?). Maybe the £10 credit which expired a few days back was as good as it gets.

They are live now. Echo Spot down to £80(could have been £90) Echo Show £100.

ordered two dots and an echo

saved £55 - happy with that

While messing with my Prime payment settings, accidentally changed my sub to annual at the £79 rate :o. Hoping they dont do a special offer on it now!

Happy enough with it over the past month to merit it though.

Prime day offers seem v good so far. The free shipping makes it worth while. Bought a Fire HD 10 (£109) and Fire Stick (£25) so far.

How does the Dot compare to home?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,935 ✭✭✭beardybrewer

Same Alexa, same guts, just the home has a better speaker so if music is a priority it may be worth stretching for. FWIW you can connect the Dot to your own bluetooth speaker or an existing stereo.

I sold my home and got 4 dots, they are plenty loud for a room and if you need more oomph just connect to a bluetooth speaker.

I'll be more focused on the voice control for smart devices aspect. I'd assume they're grand for this?

Questuon for the people who are signed up to prime video. How are you viewing it on your TV? Do I need to buy the firestick to cast it?

I have an LG TV, so there's an app. Fire TV Stick works too (but if you get the non-basic one you can't use the menus on screen to find shows, you have to "cast" from the app on your phone).

Just picked up the yi 1080p ip camera. I have the 720p version and this is impressive used with the cloud. I also picked up the fire stick. The tv is not a smart tv so im not even sure it with work on it.

It works without VPN, but you can't use iplayer and stuff. Netflix and stuff are fine.

This is the stick they recommend for non-UK customers: https://www.amazon.com/Fire-Stick-Basic-International-Version/dp/B01ETRGE7M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1531757655&sr=8-3&keywords=fire+tv+stick+basic
