The week after the bank holiday is when Intermediate first round of Leinster Intermediate is fixed for. Talk of moving the Intermediate final to the bank holiday weekend with the senior the week after as the first round of leinster senior is fixed for the 18/11.

Why was he not on TJ yesterday ?

He started midfield. Finally got moved on to TJ midway through second half but the damage was done at that stage. He didn't look 100% fit to me.
He has plenty of time now to get himself right I suppose.

There wasn't a lot wrong with him yesterday anyway.

Cillian was very good on Sunday and played through the pain barrier. Had he started at 6 it might have been closer. Kenny, Cillian, Nolan is a fine club half back line

Will Cillian be undergoing surgery now or is it a case of resting up?

From what I've heard there is only a limited surgical procedure that may help. No guarantee though. Basically he has to live with it now for the rest of his days. It will only cause him issues when he runs on hard surfaces or if he exerts himself in training. It's unlikely to ever go completely but the pain can be debilitating. He'll just have to manage it from here on out.

Tullaroan vs thomastown- the heavy ground tends to slow down the walshs free flowing hurling. Donnely and john joe drive thomastown to victory

Ballycallan v glenmore- last years semi pairing. Ballycallan too much fire power. As long as they keep goals low they will out score for points by a large margin.

Callan v tullogher- great year for callan but dont think they have faces a forward like wally this year. Tullogher by 2 points

    Freshford v lisdowney
Heard james maher has them in flying form in freshford. With his name sake in good form they should take this one

    Relegation final
Moincoin won junior a and junior d but cant get going at intermediate. Very strange. I think that they might sneak this tough as they have been gearing towards this since half way through the group stage whereas gowran werent aware of theyre shortcomings until freshford beat them

Mooncoin won a Junior A & C, Incredible going for a club whicjh its first team is on the brink of junior. They must have great games in training.

I liked of what i seen of Callan when beating Tullaroan, missed a penalty and hit the post in the second half when threatening to pull away. They came up against Padraig Walsh that and handled him well. They are my fancies to win Intermediate, hopefully they get Ryan Bergin back.

Interesting Quarter finals ahead. Id like to go to the Glenmore v GBC match but we are at the same time. Ill go to the Tullaroan match Sunday. Other 2 fixtures are at the far end of the county.

No comment on James Stephens v Castlecomer. Comer usually tough opposition for us but we should beat them the weekend, they have been desperate all year

It's crazy and frightening if that's the prognosis... if he has to live with a knee problem "for the rest of his days". Not too bad if you're in your seventies or eighties... but not when you are only 26!! :(

You would have to fancy the village here by 5 or 6 but Ballyraggett is a tight field and if Comer with the good backs that they have get a grip on some of the villages better forwards it could be a close one considering that the village play with Larks out the field

    Intermediate -

GBC v Glenmore - Going to be an interesting one. If Glenmore's inside forwards fire they might just sneak it. I think both teams full back lines are possibly their weakest lines. Glenmore by 3

Tullaroan v Thomastown - Thomastown generally perform well against Tullaroan but hearing they may not be at full strength. Tullaroan to shade it by 2

John Lockes v Tullogher - Callan have done very well this year but I think they have slightly over achieved. Tulloghers experience to see them through by 5

Lisdowney v St Lachtains - Another close game in store. Freshford seem to be finding form at the right time. Freshford by 2

I've heard this said before but apparently the pitch is actually bigger than the pitch in Nowlan Park!

From having played in both a good few times I would say it is considerably narrower. Maybe it just feels that way with the walls around the field.

Well I have the same issue myself (not brought on by intercounty hurling though). It won't effect him at all when he stops hurling it's only brought on by running and sudden stopping and planting your foot in the ground. It's a soft tissue problem that just won't ever heal completely was what the specialist told me. I don't do much running these days and I have zero pain in my knees at all. I have it in both knees, Buckley has it in l just one knee as far as I know. Cycling and swimming are used to stay fit without the impact that causes it to flare up. Playing on soft ground won't be an issue but the hard ground in a summer like this year will cause him stiffness and pain afterwards if my own experience is anything to go by.

Thomastown down 4 starters from what I hear so tullaroan will fancy this one.

I have a feeling gbc, tulloghers and freshford might sneak the other games. Freshford seem to have a bounce about them again.

Who do people fancy to win outright the JHC?

    Semis on this weekend.

    Dunamaggin v Dicksboro
    Piltown v Slieverue

Dunnamagin would have to favourites. Hard to gauge the boro..

Piltown to beat slieverue but yet again flop on county final day

  • Registered Users Posts: 464 ✭✭Neewollah

Dunnamaggin should have enough for the Boro but won't be easy.

Piltown slight favourites in 2nd game. Slieverue though have had a habit of upsetting the favourites in last couple of years.

O’Loughlins were my fancy for junior this year based on how close they ran Callan in last year’s final, and how well Callan have fared subsequently at intermediate level. But being a second team in a club can make thinks unpredictable due to player eligibility etc and Dicksoro caused a bit of a surprise by beating them in the section B final. I don’t know much about the Boro’s team but presumably they have a mix of younger players yet to make the senior team and few ex seniors who would still be serious operators at junior level. Dunamaggin have been coasting along fairly smoothly all year winning most of their games without ever looking particularly impressive and I would expect with Noel Hickey and Willie Phelan at the spine of their defence they will have enough to progress.

Piltown and Slieverue are 2 sides with little between them. The most recent barometer was the all-county league semi-final between the sides back in June which Piltown won by a few points. Slieverue have a few players back since then however and they will be stronger for that. Piltown have recorded some impressive results recently, beating Dunamaggin in the last round of the league section and then having a big win in the quarter final against Galmoy who had been going well all year up to that point. Slieverue beat Windgap in the 1st round who are always dogged opponents and then Emeralds in the quarter final. A fortuitous goal in the last minute got them across the line in that game but they had a man sent off before half time and were 8 points down at one stage but still dug it out. Toss of a coin stuff here but Slieverue to just about shade it.

Has a club in Kilkenny ever been represented at both senior and intermediate level in the same season?

I think Glenmore did in the early 90s. They won junior in maybe 91 or 92 and were a serious senior outfit at the time as well. There could be others as well.
