Clara v Danesfort - Clara by 6 (a bit of controversy in last year's league match)
Carrickshock v Erin's Own - Carrickshock by 3 (very hesitant prediction)
    Shamrocks v St. Pat's - Shamrocks by 4
Mullinavat v R. Inistioge - Coin toss, Mullinavat to scrape through

Clara V Danesfort - Clara still seem to missing a lot of regulars. Danesfort to shade it by 2
Carrickshock v Erins Own - Have to go with comer here by 3
    Shamrocks v St Pat's - Shamrocks by 6
Mullinavat v The Rower - Rower by 2

    Shield Final:
Bridge v Boro - Probably see 2 weakened teams with quarter coming up, Boro by 6

    League Final -
    OLG v Village - Village by 3

Clara V Danesfort - Danesfort need to seriously turn up- if they do, then it will be close and Fort might just shade it
Carrickshock v Erins Own- a low scoring dog fight is on the cards, comer to win
Shamrocks v St Pat's - Shamrocks with a little bit to spare
Mullinavat v The Rower - hard to call, go with The Rower

    Shield Final:
Bridge v Boro - glorified challenge game

    League Final -
OLG v Village - as above

Could the non-event that is the Shield Final hurt the two teams once they face a 1st round winner?

League final is as much non event. Senior Quarter finals a week later so id imagine teams in the league + shield will benefit

Ordinarily, you'd say it could be an advantage to have a first round match under your belt going into the QF, but this year given the condensed schedule I don't think it'll be much of an advantage.

Clara v Danesfort - Clara have the better hurlers and should come through despite a supposedly divided camp.

Carrickshock v Comer - Might be a few hurls broken in this one. Both sides have looked fairly poor all year. Comer to come through.

Ballyragget v Ballyhale - A free shot for Ballyragget of sorts;they'll be happy enough to have senior status secured for another year. With a few of their injured players back it wouldn't be a shock if they give Ballyhale a fright. Draw.

Vat v Inistioge - The Rod Iron men have the look of a horse that's been overtrained. Inistioge by 3.

Well done to our four minors who got on the minor team of the year I know the all Ireland medal would have been more welcome but hopefully this will ease the pain a small bit.

The only difference between League & Shield final(s) is that neither Village or O.L.G will want to lose, it won't really matter to B'Bridge / Dicksboro provided their not bet out the gate...

im suprised he went back because from what i can see that team needs surgery but he has the experience and will be boosted by the u21 win and he has done it before with a young crop.Tipp were unlucky this year with injuries but their old failing of ball winning fowards has being a big problem.Attitude seems to be an issue with a few of their lads but if he can get these lads right and tighten the defence they shouldnt be far away.Munster is going to be dog eat dog.

Club championship is going to be a lottery with bad forecast for the next few days

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 50 ✭✭mrbango

Who will win the junior championship? If conor Martin is good enough to be on the KK panel surely he can win it for emeralds? Dunnamagin strong enough nut not enough scoring power to go all the way. Galmoy my thrid favourites based on draw they got. Then conahy who are string but like dunna lack the creativity to beat teams who can match them physically. Will piltown never have the drive to improve to the standard required. They have fine hurlers but lack the drive. Slieverue up and coming team, based on trajectory will win junior in next four years.

Sheedy has a very good squad to work with. Tipp were unlucky last year. If we were in Munster last year we wouldn't have got out either. He has a lot more to work with than Cody has. I expect Tipp to have a big say next year

id agree with most of the above.
Most of the matches are hard to call and with today greasy and tomorrow much the same it could be a bit of lottery but the real stuff starts this weekend for most teams.
comer v cshock will probably be low scoring with both defences their strong points.Todays conditions could suit comer and they had a good win the last day.
3 good matches on tomorrow.Clara look to be down a few key players in praticluar lester who will be a big loss.Clara reliant on chris bolger up front for scores.Danesfort had a great win over the bridge but didnt back it up against comer but if they bring the workrate like they did against the bridge id give them a great chance.
vegas against the rower is hard to call, vegas seem to have slipped back a bit and could be feeling the loss of tom aylward now.The rower are probably short a few fowards to be real contenders.
ballyhale should have their strongest team back for their match and they'll need to be carefull against ballyragget who despite missing a few could be sticky opponents.

first game in the park was played at challenge match pace the boro much sharper and the bridge got a penalty and a few points to take the bad look off it.
the 2nd one was better the village were without jackie.Thought jack nolan worked hard and mark bergin also good.Tadgh o dwyer caused all sorts of problems and gave huw lawlor plenty of hardship.I was more impressed with hennessy at 3 for the village.Whats the story with mark kelly that his not coming on?
Finally out in clara an exciting finish ended in a draw john power got a cracking goal but missed 2 easier ones in the first half. Both teams were nearly afraid to win it at times and a draw probably the fairest.Declan dunne came on for comer and got 2 good points near the end.Delaney grew into the game and fogarty got 2 points.

    Glenmore v St. Martins:
Very entertaining game with Glenmore getting a last minute goal to level. Ollie Walshh who usually plays in full back line played full forward for Muckalee and rattled in two goals. John Mulhall scored 5 points from play and some of them were outrageous scores!! Alan and Eoin Murphy were good for Glenmore while Aylward scored two points.Brian Coady for Muckalee also played well. Muckalee hit some wayward wides from frees in first half so changed free taker in second half. A draw was probably a fair result but I think this means that winner of this match will have to play four weeks in a row so that will be tough. Replay should be tight affair again next week

    Comer v Shocks:
lead changed multiple times here in another game that took last minute score to level. John Power scored a great goal after catching a John Dalton long range delivery while he scored two points. Eanna Martin got on alot of ball too and roamed forward for few scores. Kevin Farrell was very good on frees and scored a nice point from play. Rice got through a mountain of work to and got a great point towards end on sideline to put shocks ahead but his legs did tire in towards end and would think he would struggle if had games in successive weekends. For Comer Fogarty was good and Aidan Moran did alot of Donkey work in middle. Michael Murphy won an acre of high ball and generally made good use of it. Thought Delaney was quite but Niall McMahon at wing back for comer impressed and looks a good athlete who can get up and down the field. I was expecting Comer to win but actually thought Shocks were the better team. All to play for the next day

Power was the best forward on show in Clara thought his point near the end was class he was unlucky with the flick that came off the post. If he could get the county bug he would be a massive addition. Tennyson should have got a red for the face guard pull on Murphy.

Was in ballyhale for the Glenmore Martins game. Poor enough standard in the first half. Martins hit some awful wides and missed 4 handy frees in the first half. Mulhall scored some fine points. Eoin Murphy played centre back wasn't great but scored 2 points from play. Alan Murphy was accurate from frees but thought he let the ball balance on the hurley a bit long on all the frees. Alyward lucky not to get more than a yellow for his challenge after the ball was gone. The game opened up a bit in the second half with Glenmore getting 2 scrappy goals the second one coming well in injury time to get the draw.

Against Clare most definitely but yes over the whole year just not good enough.

great finish to the clara danesfort match.James nolan and chris bolger the main difference.Great goal at the finish from bolger to seal the match brillant vision and pass from nolan.Murphy thundered into the game while hogan got some good frees.Paddy hogan didnt play while clara also down a few starters.

vegas deserving winners over the rower with both teams doing better against the wind.
knox and john walsh both impressive for the vat getting a goal each and a few points.dissapointed with the rowers 2nd half performance the vat wanted it more and an important win without simon aylward.
ballyhale deserving winners kevin kelly their only threat.Evan shefflin again with a few long range points and colin very lively ff.

Exhibition of forward play by Ballyhale but Ballyraggett just not at that level. The scoreboard in Loughlins is the worst I've ever seen

The 2 most impressive teams this weekend, Dicksboro and Ballyhale, are set to meet with the winner favourite to win the county title. I fancy Shamrocks, just about. OLG and Clara should be tight, James Stephens should beat the winner of Comer/Shocks. Mullinavat have eliminated the Bridge the last two years and will be favourites again.
At intermediate level, Tullaroan to beat Thomastown, Tullogher to beat Callan, Freshford to beat Lisdowney and Graig Ballycallan to beat Glenmore/Martin's
