Galway may well win the final but they are a long way from the invincibles we were led to believe earlier in the year.

    Good man captain obvious

The second Clare goal came off a really blatant square ball.

Whatever about giving/not giving frees for fouls etc.,there's no excuse for a team of officials to all miss a technical offence like that.

Thought he was superb in the 2nd half. Showed real leadership considering he's taken some punishment last week and today. Cleary was basically wrestling him over the two games. He definitely lost his cool for a bit today but really stood up when needed.

Cleary was pulling him off the ball, a lot.
Canning did his fair of it on Jack Browne late on
That sideline from under Ardan Ui Rian was outstanding, at that stage & under that kind of pressure.

Time added at the end was justified as there was a bad injury and then keeper took 25 seconds to puck it out.

I was on about the entire game . Not the last min . Freed given to Clare that nobody even
    Clare fans could see .

O Donnels goal? Did he not come in from a good bit out???

It wouldn't have made a difference to the result, but how is a shoulder to the head not a red card.

Conlon if I recall correctly was def making a nuisance of himself in the small square before the ball came in which broke the ball out before the goal was scored

Yeah I would have given Joe Cooney man of the match too. It's a credit to Galway that they are in the final after this many games unbeaten. However I just have a feeling if Limerick get any lead on them then they 'll find it very hard to respond. 2 weeks is plenty of time to recover but psychologically maybe not....

What would they need to psychologically recover from? They haven’t lost a championship game in two years.

Just the inability to finish teams off really. They had to go to the well twice today and really they ought to have finished Clare sooner . They don't have that killer instinct that the great Kilkenny team had. That may take a toll. They 'll be hot favourites in two weeks time and have a good record against Limerick. Most Limerick people would prefer playing Galway to Clare as they couldn't take losing an All Ireland to Clare

No, the other one. A long ball into the square was broken out the side, and the goal came from that.

i admire their new found resolve but they take a huge dip in games which is not something you would associate with Kilkenny in their era of dominance.

If they do it, they will have done it the hard way....i fancy Limerick

I’d give Limerick a big chance once they handle the occasion and settle into it quickly. I think they’ll be ok. Galway do seem to lack that killer instinct this year, continually ignoring Cyril’s halftime exhortations to “drive on” and they’re not creating a huge amount of goal chances. Still they’re unbeaten - is that 13 championship games in a row now? - so they’re a hard team to get a run on. In a great year I think we have been blessed with a worthy and very intriguing final. I say Limerick but not with any great sense of conviction, just a hunch their youth, energy and fearlessness might just carry the day.

Galway's main 'weakness', if you compare against the better KK and Tipperary teams of recent years is the lack of goals.

If Limerick can keep into them from the first whistle and not leave them a headstart like Clare did twice then i give them a great chance

Really fancy Limerick to go on and win AI. Galway struggled to beat an average Clare side who Cork disposed of twice pretty easily in Munster. If Limerick can overcome lack of experience in final their bench should see them through as Galway are not as good as Cyril Farrell thinks they are.

This average Clare side beat Limerick very easily.

I find the final to be very interesting.
Limerick start bad and finish great.
Galway start great and finish badly.

Thought Limerick started the year excellently. Qualified from 1B for the first time in 10 years, edged out in the league semi after extra time by Tipp.

Beat Tipp and Waterford for the first time in 4 and 11 years respectively. Drew with Cork away when down to 14. It was really only one bad game against Clare that has been the blip on the copybook.

Well worth their place in the final.

Galway have had this won for a while now, Limerick bottle the big games plus Galway are the better team by far.

    Galway 4/7
    Limerick 15/8

Galway only went behind once in the 2 semi finals. They are hard beat.

Galway are defending All Ireland and provisional champions unbeaten in championship. Limerick have a fragility no matter how good they are. Galway have better more skilful players

Correct. Clear as day from my viewpoint in the old stand.

Where does Clare hammering Limerick come into all this?

Galway justifiably favourites but I wouldn't rule Limerick out. If they can stay with Galway for the first 20 minutes they'll have a huge chance.

gotta agree with the posts saying galway don't have the same killer instinct as old kilkenny even though they probably have as good players. those 2 clare goals were soft-ish, clare lads went through a few galways lads easy

My god have you watched any matches this yr?

I have. I've seen Galway look good and look poor, and I've seen Limerick look good and look poor. For me, a final is a different story though, I could see a relaxed Galway and Limerick cacking the pants under the occasion and pressure.

Galway have a bad record of losing games to Clare that they should have won. At least they won this one. Clare were a worse match up also with the pace they possess and their ability to drag you round the pitch.

Limerick are more like Galway but not quite as good i think. I can't see Gillane getting a heap of scores off Daithi Burke for example so i think Galway will edge it in a tighter afair than last years final which was never really in doubt.

Bit strange alright. Galway don't usually take prisoners at the back. On the plus side that will be highlighted in the video review sessions now and they will be determined to fix that for the final.

That could happen but I find it an unlikely possibility judging Limerick on their matches this year. I think Galway will need al their nous and Know how to quell Limericks enthusiastic young team. No I don't see any team collapsing. Galways experience will be an advantage but then they seem to lose power from the 50th minute onwards. They look tired.

I’m thinking the Tribesmen will hold tough and retain Liam. Galway by 4. Really looking forward to the final, two neighboring counties of our own.
