It's definitely not round ligament pain, didn't have this discomfort last pregnancy. When I pee now it's like I can't force, it's coming out but trickling. It feels like there is a fist in my lower stomach which keeps tensing and pulsing. I tried to make an appointment with doctor in case it is a UTI but nothing available until Monday :(
Sorry to hear that - could you see another doctor? Just if you're in this much discomfort, it might be worth seeing someone even to just put your mind at ease too rather than wait all week?

Crikey known, I'm surprised your doc won't take you as an urgent appointment given the nature of your issue....thats unacceptable really if you ask me. I know its easy for me to say here on line but I would ring them back and stress that you could have an infection and you are pregnant - maybe that will ring some bells for them.

I hope you get a bit of comfort soon unknowngirl!! Agree that you should insist upon an emergency appointment, just for your own peace of mind if nothing else.

I'm 13 + 5 today and I'm the most terrified and confused I've ever been in my whole life. This pregnancy was a huge surprise and even though I've known about it for 8 weeks now I still cannot wrap my head around it. The only people in the world that know are myself and my partner. He's so excited and wants to shout it from the rooftops but I just feel so much anxiety. I feel like telling people will make it a reality and I don't know if I have the strength to cope with that yet.

I have a wonderful family and close group of friends, my partner and I have been together for almost ten years and have lived together for the last five. We both have good jobs and we own a house that we love which has plenty of room for a baby. It's like all of the practical things are ticked off but I just cannot reconcile myself to this new situation. I'm worried about coping and how much our life will change and if people will judge us for not being married. I'm frightened of how our relationship will change and the impact it will have on our ability to do the things we love. Jesus that sounds so selfish. I'm racked with guilt for not feeling more grateful and excited and I keep waiting for the negative feelings to dissipate but it's not happening.

Did anyone else feel like this? Can you offer any words of comfort? When will I feel positive? When will I want to share the news? Am I normal?

    Hi Amber,

Those are normal feelings really and I would think that they are good as you are aware that your life will change and are not under an illusion that things will go back to normal when baby is out.
BUT - thing change for the better really if I'm honest. I have 2 small people and this is my 3rd....while the changes have been mammoth, they have been worth it and I wouldn't go back for love or money.
Wait until you are ready to tell people - never feel like you have to do something just because its the 'norm'. Be your own woman and go your own path.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We told immediate family this week and they were so happy. I think there’s a sense of loneliness when you and your partner are the only ones that know and that has been alleviated a lot now. It’s lovely to talk to my mum and compare experiences. She’s so helpful and excited.

How is everyone else feeling? I’m almost 15 weeks now. Morning sickness is more or less gone (Thank God!). Looking forward to our scan/meeting OB in 3 weeks.

Glad you are feeling a bit better Amber, I'm sure many people have similar feelings. In our case we haven't turned our lives upside because of baby and he just fits in. Life has never been so good :) Can't wait to have another little one with us!

I'm almost 17 weeks and feeling great now, don't feel any different to when I wasn't pregnant. Had a UTI and was dehydrated but all well now. Had a scan on Tuesday and they couldn't tell the sex so we have to wait until the next scan, I'm so excited to find out!

It’s so reassuring to hear that your baby just slotted in so seamlessly and that you’re so happy. The little rascal denying you that chance to find out. You must be so excited! We have decided to keep the gender a surprise. I am convinced that it’s a girl, I feel so certain! Do you have any hunches about what yours might be?

Are most people finding out the sex?
I didn't for the first and found out for my second as I wanted to know how much I had to wash and prepare...:-)
Think I'm going to find out again for this little munchkin...just because its nice for my husband and I to know and talk about him/her and prepare.
    I also have zero patience.
How is this weather treating everyone? Ive just ordered some sun dresses online as I just can't wear trousers....roasting.

Will you tell other people or just keep it to yourselves? I’m finding the weather okay if I stay indoors. I’ll get a walk in this afternoon when that midday heat has passed! This morning my partner told me he could “see a baby bump forming” I’m fifteen weeks today. I have all sorts of anxiety around my body changing which I’m going to have to get over! Baby number 1 so I’m worried about how my shape will change. I feel like I’m worrying about everything! :’(

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 Oops Dec 2018

Hey Amber, its natural to worry with the first - when the others come along you are so busy with them that there is just no time to focus on ourselves!
I'm 15 weeks now also and very much showing, but I have zero stomach muscles after 2 sections so that would explain it - plus my womb knows the score at this point and just works accordingly I guess.

We just find out the sex for ourselves really - I think sometimes it ruins the whole thing when you tell people as they know baby boy or girl is arriving in dec and you probably have a name also. Its good to keep a mystery alive for others.

This is my first and I am already starting to show. Although I am eating more so probably put on a bit of weight from this too which I am more conscious of. I started looking at maternity clothes this weekend and ordered some online as my clothes are starting to feel very tight now.
We found out the sex and have told every body. I couldn't wait to find out, I think it helps me bond better too :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 73 ✭✭Amber 123

I haven’t taken the plunge and bought any maternity gear yet, I’m surviving with elasticated waistbands and jeans that have always been a bit too big for me. I know exactly what you mean about finding out the gender in order to bond more. I would imagine it makes it all so much more tangible. Also, you can purchase/organise the appropriate clothes while I’ll be restricted to the cream/white sections! How’s everyone handling pregnancy fitness? I ran a lot before I fell pregnant but found it next to impossible in the first trimester. Feeling more energetic now but I’ve switched to walking. I’d love to try pregnancy yoga but struggling to find a class near where I live.

I was surviving on jeans that were a little too big for me too :) But that era has ended pretty much bar some stretchy jeggings..I am also looking for a suitable yoga class but finding the times a little awkward to make it to. I've been upping my walking and started doing some youtube pregnancy fitness online. Missing my pilates and gym.

Could you recommend some YouTube fitness videos Stellasmurf? I know, I miss running a lot. I guess it’s about finding a fitness routine that works and is safe. I want to make sure that I don’t allow myself to fall into unhealthy habits so that I can have a good pregnancy and a speedy recovery!

I can’t really recommend any videos as I’ve just started myself but all I did was google second trimester fitness videos. I think Bodyfit by Amy was one of them that I tried.
Our changing bodies are certainly taking some getting used to. I keep telling myself it’s ok not to fit into my size 8 clothes anymore. Although I’m startkng to push past a 10 now too. Does anyone have any recs for clothing? I ordered some maternity jeans as I figured they’d be a better investment over the next few months than just going up a size every few weeks!

    Morning all,
Just wondering, I'm feeling good this week, and I don't know what to think about it...no real tummy turning or extreme tiredness.
I've never had these symptoms before with my pregnancies, so not sure if this new feeling of wellness is normal or if I should be worried.
    Anyone else feeling/thinking this way?

Yes, was throwing up only last week but feeling great this week :) long may this second trimester feeling continue. I’m not worrying!

I’m feeling much better too! I think that increased energy and the decline of morning sickness is quite normal around this time. Oops Dec, I think I remember you mentioning your due date and I think we are very close. I’m Dec 17th.

I bought H&M MAMA jeans and love them, they were reduced to 15 in their sale. Got a few dresses and tops too between the sale online and store and find them all to be great. I ordered a dress off Boohoo and sent it back as it was flimsy and poor quality. Sent back lots to ASOS too as the sizes were huge!

I just looked down at my belly lying down this evening and noticed it looks sort of lopsided ever so slightly. I thought I was imagining things or it was the lighting but it feels harder on one side. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be concerned? No pain or discomfort but I’m only 15 weeks along - it couldn’t be the baby?

  • Registered Users Posts: 30 Oops Dec 2018

Hello Stella, not sure if you are seeing the same lopsided tummy still. Its probably as baby was on one side more than the other. I'm feeling movement now (its my 3rd so I have no stomach muscles left!) and its all on one side.
I miss coffee and wine though - had a hankering for it last week - but decaf coffee is sort of filling the gap - sort of!
    How is everyone else doing?

Thanks Oops, I googled it afterwards and sort of put my mind at ease... Well I forgot about it anyway and haven’t noticed it since. It Was a shock initially though 😂
I thought I felt a little flutter the other night but this is my first so more likely just me digesting good.
I allow myself one coffee in the morning and one decaf in the afternoon. I wasn’t a huge drinker beforehand so cutting out the wine wasn’t too bad. I have t been to any social functions in a while though so I’m sure I’ll be craving the odd glass once I do.

Hi all, almost 17 weeks now. I feel like the time is flying by! I haven’t felt any movement. I can’t wait for that to begin. I also have one cup of coffee most mornings. I’m not missing it too much but I would give anything for a glass of wine! My partner brought me home a bottle of dealcoholised wine (it says 0.0% alcohol on the bottle). Do you think this is safe to drink on occasion? Obviously not every day or even every week but maybe a glass here and there when socialising at home? How’s everyone else’s growing bump? Some days I think I look pregnant, other days I think I just look a bit fatter than before! Have started sharing the news with a select few and it’s wonderful to see their excitement. Have my first scan with the hospital on July 18th (had a private scan at 10 weeks) so I’m waiting for that scan to pass before we tell the rest of the world! Where is everyone else at with scan dates? I feel that my first public one is very late. I went to the doctor once to have my pregnancy confirmed and then was given the appointment for the scan on the 18th (I’ll be 18 weeks then). Is that very late?

Hi amber :) Is that your anomaly scan? That’s very early! Usually around 20-22 weeks I think. I won’t have my first scan until July 31 but did pay for a private scan at 10 weeks. We have told everyone now at this stage..I told people at 11 weeks after we got our results back from Harmony. I have a definite little bump although I think I just look fat some days rather than pregnant. I’ve yet to find any suitable office clothes for this stage of a pregnancy...if anyone has any recommendations I’d be grateful. I ordered some stuff off ASOS but returned it all.

Yes, that’s my anomaly scan. I know that should be between 20-22 weeks. At my first doctors app she estimated my due date as being Dec 10th and this information was sent to the hospital. She calculated it based on my dates but my cycle was a bit all over the place. The private scan we had then moved my due date to Dec 17th based on how big the baby was measuring. I guess this means that the hospital thinks I’ll be 19 weeks (almost 20) for my scan when the private sonographer suggested I’ll only be 18 weeks (almost 19) at this point. I’m hoping it won’t make a huge amount of difference? I never even thought to contact the hospital to check. I’ve seen some very reasonably priced maternity clothes on H&M’s website so maybe check there.

Hello All, had another scan yesterday - all well TG. Doc really happy with everything so we are delighted.
Feeling very very tired though these days - don't think its just the heat. So have made appointment with GP for next week (work commitments won't permit me a visit this week) to have a look at whats going on and maybe to take a few days out to just mind myself.
Sounds like I'm being precious but I have 2 small people, I'm a very geriatric mom and have a full time job both in and out of the house. Its just taking its toll. Some days I could cry if someone looks at me funny!
    How is everyone else?

Great that all looks well :) How many weeks are you now?

You have a lot going on a few days to rest might make a world of difference. If you push yourself too far you mightn't be able to bounce back so try rest if you can.

I'm feeling great, it's the opposite of my last pregnancy. I don't feel a bit pregnant and am really well in general. We're just back from holidays with our 11 month old and it was perfect being away! I'm hoping this wellness lasts as long as possible :)

Delighted that your scan went well. Counting down the days until my next one. Eight days to go!

You know your body better than anyone else and if you need to take time out then definitely take it! It’s so important to mind yourself, you are not being precious at all and your health and well-being is paramount at this time. Take some time off now and save yourself from the possibility of burnout at a later point.

I have good and bad days - today I’m flying around doing DIY and cleaning out wardrobes. Yesterday I was horizontal on the couch watching Call the Midwife for most of the afternoon!
