Local town sold out of thermal underwear and tinned soup. It's going to be a sad day for this little village if the world ends.

But did they go on for 6-8weeks like 2010?!

I think it did in places.
There was snow still about during may, where heavier drifts and behind sheltered ditches, it had frozen through and lingered a long time.

I cut the lawn on Saturday! Some growth!

I'm leaving mine, might want to graze it in April.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Sorry if thats a stupid question!

Minimal unless you cut it and it frosts heavy that night..

The worst damage is from walking all over frozen grass..

It's not recommended to cut grass when there is a risk of frost or v. cold temperatures.

Cutting opens the leaf structure to the elements and cold conditions will result in die back and poor growth afterwards.

Leave mowing the lawn until the temperature rises to a decent day / night time average.

You’d be the first lad looking for an excuse to buy a new mower.

You’ll need to buy another one for a spare as well.

And does grazing not have the same effect?

Is that a rhetorical question? Or do you graze you lawn rather than mowing :D

    -3 is hardly extreme.

Just reading mt craniums forecast and he mentions the possibility of a March similar to March 2013 which would really compound the fodder situation.
He is not talking of snow as such just a long period of cold weather which would be most unwelcome.

In your area higher likelyhood of that
But if the east of the country sees next week out without snowfall it’ll be very lucky
    Hard to believe
Third glorious day in a row here
The east wind will pick up by Sunday evening making it very raw

Few frosty bright days and things are drier already. Imagine two weeks of dry frosty weather. Be great.

Fodder will be grand, plenty of meal in the stores and there is a mart few times a week close to everyone, no need for stock to be hungry.

Agree for most but mt cranium is the one I’d listen to most and seems prolonged cold event now nailed on

Bring it on. It's exactly what we need. Not this thing of temps yo-yoing up and down. We have got no sustained cold snap at all this winter. Far too mild and unnatural.

Thinking of letting out all lighter stock this week to start grazing off closed paddocks. If this east wind comes, might be no grass left to graze in few weeks time...
