Yeah at best they are GFS or ECM op runs, so a bit like looking at one model run in Isolation with no context and no real convection built in- pretty useless.

Beautiful pink gold sunset out there, enjoy the good dry weather for the next few days (COYBIG) because the snow IS COMING.

    BIG TIME.

As I've said, I reckon the East gets it Tuesday and the rest of the country gets pasted on Friday 2 nd.

Almost definitely based on current charts. Maxima in several areas look to be -2 or Below in some areas on Thursday, (red level warning) and more (much more possibly) than 8cm of snow is likely in some areas.

How will this compare to the 2010 December event

On par or exceeding it, not nescessarily in duration though. ie. Unlikely to last 4 weeks.

"I have seen all the severe spells since 62/3 and this as it looks now will equal and possibly exceed many of them for severity even if not longevity. "

This comment caught my eye, because this guy is not a ramper unlike some other posters on Netweather.

I've been chanting winter is coming, winter is coming around the house since this thread began.

My muggle wife came home this evening and said "did you see the weather forecast? apparently it's going to be cold next week".

    It's like I actually don't exist.
