The two lads would be insane to try and take any sort of legal action against the IRFU.

The last thing they'll want after all of this is to cause even more commotion by suing their team/governing body. Very few teams in Europe would want to touch them if that's the route they pursue.

If it's a case that Ulster/IRFU don't want them to play I think the best case for both sides would be some form of early release. I can't see there being any arguments over it if there is in fact interest from other teams in taking them on.
    Nonsense.

Sure look at the Goosen situation. You would have said the same about him.

Olding may not have a huge amount of clubs in for him. He has had a lot of injury issues and hasn't nailed down a single position. He'd be going somewhere as a squad player.

Jackson is more valuable being a good 10 and kicker.

The 2 boys would hardly go to the same club given what has happened.

Paying them every week but not picking them. Nothing they can do. Unfair dismissal? They would have to be sacked first.

Constructive dismissal is what it would fall under. Either way it will be resolved before anything like that happens.

My two cents- this is a major distraction for ulster staff and players and if performances are to improve they need to knuckle down, focus and work with what they have- backs against the wall mentality. Togetherness of the squad will be absolutely crucial. The current playing squad have enough of a challenge there than carrying the burden of the trouble thats been happening and will continue to happen from the legal case (which they would have nothing to do with but may still affect morale and public attitudes and associations). A gopperth type signing and let the two go elsewhere for a while at least, its better for everyone

Would Ulster loaning out Jackson and Olding to something like a Super Rugby side be the best way out for everyone.. They wouldn't be dismissed technically, they get to play rugby. Just can't see them lining out for ulster next season, it will bring so much negativity

Jacko will have offers. Still hope IRFU dont succumb to the bullying tactics of the hard left

I see the PSNI are investigating a death threat against Jackson's lawyer.

It won't be the masses that influence the IRFU. It will be the sponsors.

It won't be your boogeymen leftists who'll do for Jackson and Olding, ironically enough it'll the big money sponsors who'll end both their careers in Ireland

    Money talks, wish it didn't.

Possibly, but then without Jackson Ulster are crap and that itself will drive away fans and sponsors.

A good 10 is merely toilet papering over a mound of ****, as Lealiifano's signing proved.

On a more positive note...Jordi Murphy is a great signing for us. If we can get Coetzee back we suddenly have two thirds of a damn good back row.

Sponsors like winners which for Ulster means Jacko at 10. The sponsor thing is overblown

50k people have signed an online petition to not have them play again. You can disagree with their opinion and tactics but that’s an indication of the amount of people who could bombard advertiser’s twitter/email/etc. 18k fit in Ravenhill for comparison.

I’m sure it will blow over eventually but why would Ulster bother with the hassle for a few possible wins in a dead season this year? Why would Ulster put this controversy on a new coach next season when they can sign a decent 10 elsewhere? Ulster have been good employers through all of this so owe them nothing.

Maybe they return next year but their Ireland careers are done, the IRFU will low ball any future contracts (if they are offered at all) and while it’s been front page here the trial hasnt made the news in England/France. Apart from the pride of wearing the jerseys why should they stay?

An early release is probably best for every party concerned whether we agree or disagree with it.

No, just no. IMHO most of the 'rent a mob' 50 k are nothing more than online bullies. Do you give in to a bully? Of course not.
I would also hazard a guess a large proportion couldn't even tell you the shape of a rugby ball.

There was a trial and they were found not guilty. Pandering to a rent a mob would be a despicable cowardly act by the IRFU.
You face down these online bullies and let them know their tactics will not succeed. Sure some will whinge but they will tire of it.
The easy option is not the right option, i will stop attending matches if they betray our players in this manner and there are many other real fans who share my view.

It will not be the mob.

SPONSORS/ADVERTISERS will be far more influential.

3 Aussie cricketers rubbed a cricket ball with sandpaper. They have lost personal sponsorship deals and CA have lost sponsors. Worth $5-10 Million.

So you say. Rugby sponsors are interested in targeting fans who attend rugby matches not unemployed serial protesters.

You seem to like making sweeping generalisations. "The hard left" and "unemployed serial protestors".

Any actual facts to back up these statements?

I worked for a marketing firm for 4 years. Sponsors are interested in media exposure actually, Not having their brand associated with rape trials and vile text messages

If these protests happen outside the Kingspan at Ulster next home game will they be happy to see their brand get that sort of exposure?

So Aussie crickterers were caught cheating and Irish rugby players were found not guilty in a court of law. Different.

Nobody's saying it's fair. Did Tiger Woods actually break any laws when his sponsors deserted him? Or even be accused of breaking any laws?

Who is leading these protests? Ruth Coppinger and Brid Smyth. The hard left. Would u want to associate urself with those 2 ?

These loons are calling for Harrison and McIlroy to be sacked. They are idiots.
