Can confirm it was a whiteout last night in kiltullagh 13 km east of Athenry
Electricity went for a couple of hours this morning too

Right hand lane of M6 motorway eastbound will be treacherous tonight and the hard shoulder

So close yet so far away, sounds like you got a lot more than us.
There was absolutely nothing the whole way from Shannon to athenry bar a light dusting between gort and oranmore
And then things escalated quickly !!!!
    Motorway will be LETHAL later

Sky sports Liverpool Everton game just stated and in the intro the commentator referred to game thankfully being on because the warning of heavy snow for the region never materialised.

No course not because the official weather stations are not in the microclimates. But I've no doubt that it will hit that in places.

Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny (Mount Juliet) is a known frost hollow with a station belonging to Met Eireann.

Weather is weird. Just been for a long walk on the beach in Donegal. The sun is splitting the rocks, blue skies and no clouds. 2.5c but feels much warmer!

    Not a flake in sight.

It underlines that a truly nationwide snow event is rare, that said with Munster now getting in on the act a lot of the country will have seen snow by this evening. I think this is easily be the best snow event since 2010 for some places in Ireland

Thawing quite rapidly here at the moment, all the snow on the roads is very slushy right now, it will be a real nightmare when this lot freezes tonight!

Tonight's low temperature warning has been upgraded to amber.
