I d like to see an outsider get the hurling job, think they should stay away from kingston

I think Eddie Brennan would be a good choice if he was interested in leaving Laois, somebody who would bring a fresh approach

Not sure he'd leave before getting a crack at the Leinster Championship.

Sounds like DJ is being lined up as Cody's replacement, so Eddie will end up somewhere else, but probably not for a few years.

Just on the Cork County board. Is Frank still involved to a degree or is Tracey Kennedy actually the main woman these times? Just seen that talk of Kingston possibly returning, did he fall out with Frank per se or the whole board?

Looks like Frank hasn't left it seems. Cork will win nothing for decades in hurling or football. People can accept it if they aren't prepared for a new change. If Kingston goes in we dont have any hope of winning an All Ireland again. We need things to change in Cork GAA. The reason we arent winning is because we appoint managers that arent up to the job and have players on the panel that aren't good enough. If Cody was in charge of Cork he would wipe out half the panel who weren't up to it. Just my opinion not having a dig at Cork but wish we managed the GAA better in the county.

They can only work with what comes up the line. Cork have unbelievable sticks men but probably need to focus on physically preparing their youngsters for senior level to mix it up more. That's all they lack. They have some of the most skillful hurlers in the country

There was a Pat Horgan that played for Cork in the eighties. What club was he?

I'm just saying you need more perspective. Toughening up on the physical side of things is something you'll have to address at underage.

As for Kilkenny they do that to loads of teams. Christ they beat the all Ireland champions the weekend. Of course maybe it's time for a new man but if I'm being quite honest I think you are unfairly singling Meyler out. As for comparisons with Babs, I think you are being totally unfair.

No I wouldn't take him in Tipp over Sheedy or Cahill but I'd take him over William Maher or Declan Ryan if given a choice. Declan won two Munsters and only lost to one team who for over a decade and a half were best in Ireland. Dec was never an archetypical manager tbh. Meyler strikes me as an energetic manager who will do well if he is offered another county job after Cork

I think there would have been uproar in Tipp, if ye exited the championship to Kilkenny in the lame and meek manner that we did, and rightly so.John Meyler is a committed hurling man, but his record as Cork senior manager is overall pretty mediocre. His tenure in charge of Wexford, was a disaster by all accounts.

We often lost to Kilkenny in a tame and meek manner. We lost to Kilkenny 4 years in a row from 11 to 14. Dec Ryan was in charge for 11 & 12 and as much as I love Dec, he was never in the mould for management. Eamon o'shea in fairness to him was in hard luck in 13 and 14, but i cant help feeling the game was played on Kilkennys terms in 14, but thats what they do to you. Cody didnt win 11 All irelands for nothing. He could well repeat the dose in 16 days.

Can John Meyler be honestly singled out as the only man who suffered this type of defeat to Kilkenny??

Meylers term with Wexford a disaster??? the previous time they made an All ireland semi final prior to last week, Meyler was in charge  He done better or as good as most Wexford managers who proceeded or followed him.

Anyways my point is that he deserves far more respect than he is getting. Im not saying keep him there for life or anything but Cork fans need to be realistic. They need to fix things from the ground up and i dont think there is much tweaking needed, but you cant just blame the senior hurling manager when results arent going your way. its a more multi layered issue than that.

Wish people stop suggesting Donal Og - that appointment would bring nothing but agitation and divide to the county and that's the last thing Cork Hurling needs right now - move on please !!!!

If we're worried about the feelings of a few delicate snowflakes, then we'll be spending another 15 years in the wilderness. This kind of carry on and politics is the sort of small minded agenda driven nonsense, that needs to be left firmly at the door.I wouldn't have him as manager, but Donal Og has a lot to offer Cork hurling in some capacity.

Kingston did a fine job as manager, and we were leading in that semi final against Waterford, prior to an incorrect sending off.

    .

You are stuck in the rut of seeking to glorify Brian Cody and Kilkenny in every sentence so you are struggling to be objective. In reality Kilkenny had three significant hurdles to jump in Leinster, Galway at home, Wexford away, and the Leinster Final. They failed in all three cases. That’s the lens through which Cork will judge their loss to Kilkenny and it creates a damning picture.

Obviously people will differ on the question of responsibility and some will forever go on about “Frank” (too much reading of the Sunday Tribune back in the day) and people like yourself about how great “Cody” is but Cork were shocking against what the Leinster championship suggests is a middling Kilkenny team. It is hard to see how there was a future for the manager when after two years in charge especially when they nearly made an All Ireland final last year they gave such a submissive performance in the quarter final.

That number 12 for Cork looks good. Turning his man every time and cutting through KK's defense at will
