Those people who don't believe there is a link between the MMR Vaccine and Autism might want to check out what Dr. Andrew Zimmerman has to say on the subject.

Zimmerman who was a government expert on Vaccines now believes that Vaccines "could cause autism” in some cases.

You have to go looking for story. It never gets mentioned now when the fake news media talk about Wakefield.

In other words it doesn't exist. The problem is that anti-vaxxers spend all of their time spreading ignorance with the result being that their arguments get taken in bad faith, ie you've spouted so much drivel that that's what's now expected of you.

Or you could link this study. Maybe actually read it as well.

    Nah

That isnt what Zimmerman believes at all. You are now peddling fake news.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

This thread absolutely reeks of deja vu.

Feels like it should be under a Religion category, this isn't particularly fun and mostly not very social, and the anti-vax side are just spouting their dogma. :p

As for that nonsense posted above about Zimmermann, the poster should probably look into the Danes who have published their second enormous study on vaccines and Autism, which has been mentioned here before. Oh, and if the poster is actually interested in what causes autism, maybe it should look into the recent study on pesticides and autism. That one is very telling - the area in question is US farm country where pesticide use is commonplace.

Of course, I doubt the poster has any interest in autism, or facts. It's just its religion and its found a few like-"minded" friends online that agree with it.

Anti-vaxx is a religion, and so is Brexit

Neither can withstand exposure to logic and facts, but the gobsh!tes who believe in the woo don't care

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

The same Zimmerman who was selectively and completely out of context quoted earlier in this thread by another anti-vaxxer?

Tell you what, why don't you tell us what Gemma told you he meant...
Then we can explain what was actually said.

    The story is 100% real.

The real religion is people who think Vaccines are completely safe when its clear they cause serious harm to a minority of people.

That really is a tiny minority though! The swine flu vaccine which you mentioned earlier, the chance of narcolepsy is only 1 in 50,000. The benefits of vaccination far outweigh the risks.

That "study" was retracted. I'm quite sure you are well aware of that.

I'm also quite sure you are aware that after it was retracted from a Frontiers journal, the title of the "study" was altered before being sent into the Journal of Translational Medicine. However, the cute hoorism from the ant-vaxxers did not go unnoticed, the JTM also retracted it fairly sharpish.

You might also wish to note that the authors have a history of having their other papers retracted too.

Time and time again their awful methodology and biased sampling designs have been called out by proper medical professionals.

Random YouTube vid is just that.

If you want to view the stats for those damaged by measles, here are a few for your perusal:
Even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available, in 2017, there were 110 000 measles deaths globally, mostly among children under the age of five.

Measles vaccination resulted in a 80% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2017 worldwide.

In 2017, about 85% of the world's children received one dose of measles vaccine by their first birthday through routine health services – up from 72% in 2000.

During 2000-2017, measles vaccination prevented an estimated 21.1 million deaths making measles vaccine one of the best buys in public health.

original paper ( since retracted )

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9500320/
12 children (mean age 6 years [range 3-10], 11 boys)
    ...
Onset of behavioural symptoms was associated, by the parents, with measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination in eight of the 12 children, with measles infection in one child, and otitis media in another.

"with measles infection in one child" - 100% of the kids with measles had behavioural symptoms
