Kill Your Babies - PS2 Edition 1.0

So i've done a PS1 edition, now it's time for the PS2. I said i'd keep it slightly more modern, as even though the early days had amazing consoles and games, me thinks that the average age of Boards gamers is not too old... First up, the rules;

Rules wrote:

Rule #1: When you make a kill, give your reason why you are killing. Just taking it out isn't all that inspiring. Whether you truly dislike it, you strike out of revenge, you feel that there are other important titles that should have made it, or you have legitimate critiques, explaining your kill is necessary to validate its death. Yes, even to those of you who kill because they're good (Because that makes sense =-D)

Rule #2: Please keep the updated list for the benefit of other players. Cross through your kill to identify what's been chosen.

Rule #3: You may kill another game after only four other people have made a kill OR if 12 hours have passed from the last overall kill (not necessarily your own). This should be plenty of time for others to get involved.

Rule #4: If you fail to give a reason, make a 2nd kill without allowing the time to pass/proper amount of players a turn, or if there is an unforeseen issue up for potential review, your kill may not be recognized. This rule is subjective to the situation and hopefully will not be implemented.

Rule #5: We will have a straw poll for the final two. Please vote for the one you want to win, not lose.

Now, i've approached this one slightly differently. Rather than go through lists of Top X and picking the games, i've decided to go by Sales. So my list has been taken from the best selling PS2 games (in no particular order). There are more than 1 game from some series, and that's simply because some games were different enough for them to stand on their own (ie: GTA: SA and GTA: VC). You include THUG as the only THPS game but then theres 3x DMC and 3x DBZ games and many, many Driving Games and their numerous sequels.

No, sorry driving games are Not that different each iteration to have so many entries Stand on their own merit. GTA 3 and VC and SA? Fine. Makes sense

Timesplitters 1 doesn't belong on any list that has 2 in it. 2 was what made the series (I don't think anyone would argue you can safely remove that)

Final Fantasy X and X-2? Really? Are they essentially the same game but pre-DLC era?

I know exceptions existed in the SNES one, but that was Super Mario World and Bros 3, they were different enough and iconic enough.... Midnight Club: Street Racing does not get that cult status

Had potential but just felt like a gimmicky game with the headset mic. Tried playing with the mic for a couple of hours and it didnt go well. Ended up trying to carry on without it but it was still a below average game. Cost me a fair bit of money too and that felt like a waste.

Vice City. Overrated, not as much fun as gta3. The extra stuff was annoying, not fun like San Andreas. And all that water to crash into, but not being able to swim...

Didn't realise the list was as long as I put it initially. I included sequels of certain games because I honestly don't know which was the better as I haven't played some of them. But I'll cut it down some and (begrudgingly) take out the killed ones too. But man, there were a lot of good games on the PS2!

To make this a bit quicker, I've enabled double kills from here on out! Kill 2 babies, get double points!

Killing GTA III because in a world where San Andreas exists, it is completely redundant.

Killing Manhunt because it actually wasn't a good game at all. I don't know why anyone ever even cared that it existed. Dull and vapid.

Lads, if you wanna kill a game, you need to repost the most previous list WITH the strikethroughs of the killed games, so the next person can see and update.

Vice City is the best GTA game ever.

You then just QUOTE that person, remove the Quotemarks and put your Strikemark through your games

Anyways, killed Everybody's Golf. Tiger was the only golf game needed.
I also killed GT4 as GT3 is there which was much better in my opinion.

Killing Tony Hawks underground, It was the beginning of the decline for the series (for me anyway), and that running around mechanic was frankly awful.

I actually thought THUG 1 was the last "good" entry (but was definitely the begginning of the end though). Yeah the running mechanic was a balls but iirc the Level design was better than 3 and 4. THUG 2 was awful, thats when it started being cringetacular with all the Jacka$$ stuff :rolleyes:

Killing the 007 series as they never really caught me. Like they were missing something to bring it beyond another bland shooter.

Also killing Virtua Fighter 4. While the first couple of them were amazing for their time, they just couldn't hold that traction and were quickly overtaken by better fighters.

Not a troll, just a lurker whose dislike a Vice City prompted a first post. I'm just a bit tetchy cos my ps2 won't read the disc for Rez any more.

I can't disagree with anything that's been killed so far. The Getaway seemed like a good game, but was too annoying to play. Almost like it had originally been designed for the ps1...

Eh Virtua Fighter 4 was pretty much the best 3D fighter at the time and the PS4 version was phenomenal. So much content and it really taught the player how to play. It's way better than any Tekken or Soul Calibur and it's a strong contender for greatest fighter of all time, probably only topped by VF5.

Killing Medal of Honor Rising Sun because how the hell is that on the list and Medal of Honor Frontline isnt? It was the much better of the two.

Also LotR Two Towers. Looked great in the ads and previews and ended up being boring and crap.

First Mortal Kombat DA. One of the worst entries in one of the worst fighting game series (at the time). Awful fighter.

Enter the Matrix. A contender for worst game on the system and a buggy mess. **** this game.

God of War 3. Came out on PS3. It's also kind of ****.

It had the potential to be brilliant. But then it forgot about Disney characters and focused on it's own original characters which happen to be ****ing awful. Marry that with brain dead gameplay and quite literally the worst story ever written by mankind and it's a total ****show.

I quite liked the first one for all it's flaws but the second game is god awful with the worst opening 10 hours of any game I've ever played. It lost sight of the kooky weirdness and just went full on fan fiction.

MGS Snake Eater, loved the previous two in the series but this killed it for me. Must have started it five times and gave up after 5 minutes every time.
