it's obvious you have a members agenda from shaggin them,

Are agendas like STD's now? I use to go out with a vegetarian. Does that mean I might have caught it from her? Is that why I'm not so fond of rashers anymore?

There's a difference between intimidation and being capable of taking care of oneself. I don't want Gardai going around beating people up or threatening people, it's that they can defend themselves and us properly.

Is it lies???(I'll happily edit if so)
Didn't you mention here on boards you've had members for supper and even got a lift in a marked car and chips?

You keep stepping past anything I add because it doesn't fit your views, you think the sun shines out of AGS

Sorry to break it to ya, but AGS isnt trusted by the public!

Jog- on white knight, unless you have something to of substance to add

Where did I say I don't like them, I WANT to trust them not like them!

I've answered everything honestly and am being civil, I've ask multiple questions no answers, some people will defend AGS to the hilt but know nothing about how dodge AGS are!

The irony! You are not presenting your argument very well to be honest.

This may be the understatement of the week.

A certain section of the Guards do great work. There's no doubt there.

But yes, you can see the failings in others. From the top, right down to the boots on the ground.

I remember being in a lock-in (First and last time) and the guards came in. The first reaction was for everyone to roar and cheer. Not fear and 'oh ****, we are in for it now'. And I think that response sums up the general attitude towards the force.
I've been all round Europe and most of the police look like soldiers. It they arrived during the lock in, I would put any money on it that the response would be totally different.
By the way, no one was charged and about 30 names were taken. Hence the lack of fear.

There's probably a happy medium in there. A police force should be fit and mobile, be well trained in self defence and restraint. People shouldn't have any fear of police, but they should respect them and definitely should see them as figures of authority. It's of course extremely difficult to hit this happy medium and most places will end up on one extreme or the other sadly.

As an aside, the police a lot of us see abroad are in city centres, where there's parliaments, train stations, large crowds etc. I'm sure out in the sticks in other countries they've got the same types we have here.

I'd also have to say I couldn't say too much negative about any personal experiences with Gardai. They do seem reasonably well able to look after themselves. Definitely a lack of respect for them in certain areas though.

What would you have wanted to happen differently?

Come in with guns drawn? Batons out? Pepper spray? Riot gear on? Ready to fuck sh1t up?

You expect 30 people to be charged with the offence of drinking a beer? In Ireland? - The law is there to stop pubs from abusing the licensing system, it is not and should not be there to criminalise ordinary people.

The courts and prisons are clogged up enough without trivial crap like drinking a beer in a place a couple of hours after you were meant to stop.

Licensing laws in this country are a joke anyway.
