Exactly. It's a bunch dopes who've watch too many dystopia movies.
On no planet are they actual independent or remotely autonomous for that matter.

    That's not what autonomous means.
Autonomity and independence are not the same thing.
Least of all in that current shthole
None the less, announcing you are autonomous or independent, doesn't make it true. That should be obvious

    To anyone sane that is.
I you think that are an actual independent country, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Seen the promo for the James Comey two part mini series with Gleeson as Trump.

Was reading the synopsis and its about the Russian interference in the 2016 elections Hillary's e-mails and how Comey dealt with both.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the two and half year Muller sideshow investigation proved there was no Russian collusion and Hillary's e-mails have only been in the news again THIS WEEK, although with all else going on you probably didn't hear about it, with her losing her court case to squash a subpoena and how she must now testify about what exactly she did.

As for Comey, he was directly involved in Killary's e-mail scandal, the Russian Hoax, had corrupt and biased agents (Strzok and Page) try to rob Trump of the election, only to be fired. Yet he still makes millions on a book and the proven lies within it have been made into a "mockumentary".

Chicken little and the boy who cried wolf are springing to mind.

And now ol walrus face John Bolton has come out with his book on how bad Trump is.Sameo sameo, collusion with the Chinese for a change, and playing both sides in Venezeula and approving of Xi builing concentration camps .Or how the 1st lady used her offical email addy for ONE single email, while a former 1st lady used hers incessently and non stop for Govt busisness, and then went and had her private servers professionaly wiped and bleached is somewhat ignored.

Seems to be the thing these days in DC.Get fired by the orange man and then write your memoirs,or turn on the muck spreader and hope some of it sticks.

Wonder when Gen Matthais is going to join the "I hate Trump too" bookclub?

Apparently, according to Joe Biden, you need to elect him to the Presidency so he can fix things. Couldn't do it in 47 years but will as President.

Ok that was a cheap shot, but makes me laugh at the absurdity of the claim.

EDIT - I had a big reply written but after reading back on it, it seems a little "heavy" for this forum so i'll leave you with this.

There is no quick fix. I don't know the answer, and it seems nobody does. Social media and the newer generations make any sort of reconciliation impossible. By that i mean everyone has a voice, the ability to stoke the flames, and with nothing else to lose the newer/younger generations see it as an opportunity to possibly get "free money".

It will die down, as all things do, but not before the damage is done or until the next issue pops its head up, and given how this year has gone that could be anything from Alien invasion to a world ending asteroid.

Funny enough, I had a talk along these lines with my 77 year old mother at lunch today.

She asked me where freedom of speech had gone. Even she could see that people aren't allowed to have their own view on things any more. You must agree with the group or else you are shot down.

And at 77 she was able to see that the way the news is delivered nowadays, we aren't actually told the news, we are told how to think about the news. We aren't allowed to make up our own minds any more.

The red states are having an influx of people from blue, and instead of fitting in they are bringing their democrat ways with them, especially states around Commiefornia. The same thing is happening in Canada, people who can no longer stick living in the cities are heading to rural areas, and then surprised and appalled when they find they are surrounded by gun toting rednecks.

Look at people like Dr. David Starkey, Laurance Fox, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Douglas Murray etc. They go onto the likes of Newsnight etc and disagree with the assembled lefties and there is outrage, its not real outrage, its just they don't don't like whats been said and so i these people must be silenced/deplatformed.

Colleges and universities used to be places where dangerous ideas were debated and challenged, now they are safe spaces where any ideas other than the accepted ones are now banned.

Orwell seen all this coming 70 years ago, but it seems most people want to ignore him.

Belive it or not,you can still find towns and small cities in the USA that are still Norman Rockwell picture models.
But they dont take to strangers too easily,so you want to be able to fit in with the locals ways otherwise you will be ostracized pretty fast.
IOW opening you gay vegan resturant between JoAnnes diner and the Gutted hog bar &grill mightnt be a smart busisness move.
But thats how they keep their small town redneck charm.

If you think that we should not pull down statues and let the past be water under the bridge, then maybe you will get a laugh about this; there's a petition on change.org with 17k signatures to have The Guardian newspaper shut down - it being at the forefront of Year Zero wiping of history AND having itself been founded on money made from slavery

Just signed it myself, feeling a bit mischievous and needing a good laugh.

    OMG.

Been hearing about China's Confucius Institutes in Western Uni's for a few months. Just watched youtube (NTD China in Focus) about them in the US - they pay generously but institute must agree not to offend China and their Chinese staff must obey Chinese law, even though they are abroad plus the contracts apparently explicitly discriminate against certain religious groups (probably Falun gong, at the very least).

So I googled to see if we have any here......and I've found three in ROI - UCD, UCC and NUIG.

Confucius is in the last 10 mins or so https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1lYypu090Q

Dear god. What an idiotic statement from Trump. How did he think this was a good thing to say publicly. How was this allowed to stay in his speech. I know he gets a lot of harsh criticism, but this an approach a child might think of.

Its amazing how our lot quickly forget human rights, morals and ethics when a few bob is waved under their snouts, or the snouts of the tax exiles they truly represent.

They were up in arms over Israel, a liberal democracy, perhaps rightly, but can turn a blind eye to an increasingly aggressive communist dictatorship that is china, that locks people up without charge or reason, force people they do not like into disappearing or suicide, forcibly harvest human organs and sell them, their brutal treatment of their citizens and animals - wet markets etc. Their buying up of international orgs such as the UN and WHO.

But hey investment and cheap manufacturing, export your jobs to a communist distopia and put those pesky working class people on the dole.

Ultimately, the decision to take the "donation" or not lies with one person. And single people can make some pretty shitty decisions when it comes to private agreements.
Its only when its a big public decision like a referendum that people think about morals.

Similar thing. People will happily buy cheap goods in the shop, or demand rock bottom prices from Pennys, or on electronics. But they will complain when the quality is ****. Collectively people need to be willing to pay a bit more, for better quality goods.

Well i did not mean donations, i meant the Chinese want to open a company here or buy up a housing development or blocks of apartments etc.

I refuse to knowingly buy Chinese products after this virus pandemic. If i pick up an article and see "Made in China" on it, i put it back on the shelf. The Dunnes stores workers back in the 80's refused to work with fruit and veg from apartheid south Africa.

But no one lifts a finger against the Chinese who are every bit as bad, or worse. Their recent behaviour, with their president making himself president for life, The suppression of freedoms in Hong Kong, and the trouble with them and the Indians, but no carry on as usual.

It's a lot easier to choose to not eat bananas from South Africa than it is to not use something that is made in China.

Yes, thats true, but most of what China produces is low quality and disposable. I was buying pliers recently, i had the choice of a pair made in Germany for 30 euro, or a pair made in China for less than half that. I bought the German ones, as i know they will last and that i will take care of them.

I know people who live and work in Germany, i don't know anyone in China, if we continue to export our jobs, sooner or later it will arrive at your own door.

Even today Trump came out and said that he held off on sanctioning Chinese officials over their ethnic cleansing of the Uighurs as they were in the middle of getting a trade deal.. not having a specific go at him here cause most politicians would have sold out as well, but the problem is that we are always going to be in the middle of a trade deal with China when they control so much of the manufacturing, so when exactly are they going to be sanctioned and stood up to? If it doesn't happen now after what we saw during the PPE shortages in the pandemic then it'll probably never happen

Thats because America exported much of their manufacturing to China, if a trade war breaks out, the American companies don't get their parts or completed products, and go bankrupt. Its like having your nuts in an enemies hand and expecting them not to give them a good squeeze.

The police are resigning enmasse in America, and i don't blame them. The money is dire, and you get all the trouble you want at the best of times, now its just not worth the hassle.

I was looking at the coppers in Stuttgart the other night, being kicked around the place, yet if you kick back you are a facist or waysist or something else, get a job in Aldi and let someone else worry about it.

There were two lovely houses on their own land down the road from me which were knocked down and a load of shoddily built apartments put up. I believe they are owned by a Canadian teachers union.

Irish water, was being set up, not to improve water supplies, but to be fattened up and sold off, it appears the whole country is for sale.
