Yes ... but lets just say being behind is OK when you have other differentiators, as long as you are not *too far* behind.

Exactly. What matters most is that you have strengths to balance with the weaknesses.

Not sure if this is the correct place but I bought a Switch and the dock doesn't seem to be working. I went through all the Nintendo solutions on their website but the dock isn't projecting the picture from the console to the screen. I've tried different tv's and different hdmi's but not working. I don't have access to a different dock so I can't try that option. I sent it off to Nintendo for repair and they've returned it to me with a letter saying it was tested and no issues so it must be something I am doing wrong.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

Weird, speaking from my own experience only thing I can think of is make sure the power cord is in the power slot rather than the USB slot. I did that loads of times and spent ages messing around with HDMIs and stuff. I'm sure you've checked that but only thing i can think of.

    1. Is any power getting to the dock? Is the green led on in the dock?
    2. When the HDMI is connected, is there any signal going through at all, even a black screen?

I wonder if its anything like the HDMI lead not pushed in all the way on the dock etc etc.

Ya I definitely have the power lead in the power socket on the dock.

When I drop the console in the dock light is green and the console goes black. I definitely have the hdmi pushed in as far as it can go. Nothing happens with screen though. It recognises that hdmi is plugged in as in the channel for hdmi 3 is available which it wouldn't be if I didn't have a hdmi plugged in. It then says nothing to to display.

I saw online that you need to plug in the hdmi and the power in a certain sequence and I tried that but it doesn't work either.

It happened to me once where it went black after I turned it on. It might be worth trying a full reboot by holding down the power button on top for about 20 seconds when it's in the dock.

    Finished Dragon's Trap.

Great game, however I didn't like that i had to resort to a guide for the last bit -
how the **** are you supposed to know to hit the exact middle square with the magical saber then hit it again with a normal sword?
    Maybe I missed something?

If not I feel a little cheated. I hate resorting to guides/youtube etc.

Back playing Mario Odyssey again after a wee break - up to ~ 340 moons.

Also bought Oxenfree. Only paid 3 euro but it's a piece of **** so far - is there any gameplay in it at all?

No Oxenfree is not a "game"

    Is a storybook

The system has become common, so you could seek out a neighbour and try the device out on their dock setup.
Might be something simple, but then it might not, if the console works on another dock it'll confirm the dock is at fault, if it still won't display then there's something funky with the console.

While the story is decent enough, it's not exactly gripping. I chose this over Thimbleweed Park when it was on sale a while back, and it's slow going getting through it.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone else with a Switch at the moment so that's not an option.

    Thanks though.

Is there any possibility that you could bring the Dock to the store and ask them to try it for you with your Switch? At least they could see it first hand too.

I bought it in the flash sale from Amazon before Christmas so not an option either.

Where are you based? Someone here might be able to let you try your Switch on their dock?

I'm in Limerick. Would be great if I could try it somewhere. Thanks.

Got my 8Bitdo Retro NES controller today. Seems to be one of the few wireless bluetooth controllers that work with the Switch.

So far it works great, it doesn't have motion control but otherwise I've not noticed any issues. Nice and small too for carrying around. Grand for €30ish

Edit: Christ that's big :) No idea how to make it a smaller pic.

Sounds like a handshake issue between your TVs HDMI and the switch itself...

I would reckon set to 720p on some other TV and when you connect to your TV set it to automatic resolution...

I would nearly bet the house it's the TV as oppose to the switch

I hope that price is not the real deal. Then again, Switch games can be pricey compared to their PS/Xbox/PC counterparts.

It's €13.99 on the Nintendo eShop.

It's a placeholder price. It's the same for all pre orders.
