    Your choices are :

    From Three:
    1. Move to prepay (order a new SIM / pick one up in store and do a SIM swap within 30 days)

    2. Move to SIM only (they only have one plan on that now)

    Or, temporarily move to prepay:
Then port out to another network.

You may be able to port out immediately actually, but you will still get billed for your final bill. I wouldn't chance it myself as I'm not sure if that might invalidate the notice as this is an unusual situation.

You also might as well use up whatever includsive minutes and data you have this month as you'll be paying for it either way.

If I went to sim only could I upgrade to phone package afterwards

Big Thanks to OP. Got an iPhone SE on bill pay in January. Have just cancelled contract and will go to PAYG in 30 days. By my calculations will save about 500 euro over the next 2 years! (will be paying 20 per month now instead of 45 over 24 month term). Essentially got an free iPhone! Thanks again. Am delighted :)

Ok so I got a htc ten last June on two year contract. Can I cancel now and keep the phone and will htc unlock and let me use on another network?

You'd probably lose the equivalent of €4 in loose change in a month... FFS

That's irrelevant , 4 % is probably about 10% or higher of an increase. If you don't vote with your feet other purveyors of goods and services will do the same

I signed up last summer I think. Got the iPhone 5s, €25-ish a month. Got no notification of an increase yet. If I switch back to pre-pay will it still be €20 a month top up like it was? With unlimited data?

Yes. Three will process the unlock though, not HTC.

Amazing... Best bargain alert ever for me. Phoned and they unlocking phone and I'm switching to 30 euro rolling sim only plan.. When the unlock comes through I'll look at switching to another provider.. Great to have the phone unlocked.. Three wanted me to pay up my contract completely a few months ago to get an unlock!!! Super thanks to everyone

Just cancelled my new 2 year contract, guy on the phone was great and didn't even bother trying to get me to stay (very unusual in services!), the only upsell was trying to get me on the 30 day plan for €30.

I'm staying with Three on PAYG for the moment - are they still the best out there for PAYG?

Main things I need are unlimited data and tethering.

PAYG on three doesn't allow tethering.

I have written confirmation from 3 that my phone was "free" - an argument they tried to use in court. This is going to be used against them.

Rang three just now. I had 12 month contract remaining on Classic Flex Max 350 and I was off the phone in under 3 minutes and have switched to 30 day SIM only plan and my phone unlocked!

I'm on the €40.66 plan which I think is increasing. So if I cancel this evening & switch to PAYG, does that mean I'll have no signal till I get a new sim?
    Sorry for all the questions!

    No.

I was on the exact same plan. You can change immediately to a sim only bill pay for €30 a month. The one you change to is actually a better plan and you get unlimited text and calls.

Are the canaries included in the 2GB of data we now get roaming.

Not allowed but people still do it apparently.

Don't know if its mentioned on this thread. Could not see it.
But those on just broadband pacages also face an increase.
My 60gb mifi plan for the house goes up from 39.99 to 42.99.
I'm not in contract but no sense in leaving cause I can't get a better or equal ****e signal from any other provider

Plus apparently I can;t roam anymore. But I never knew I could

Sounds great folks! Can I cancel my remaining contract then sign up in a few weeks to a new contract and a new phone I wonder?

I would assume the same thing, this will be one of my main reasons for staying with Three.

Sadly this does mean though I'll have to be more careful with roaming in the UK.

Short answer no, 3 are changing the contract. Which under consumer law allows you to terminate the contract without penalty.

    Yes, sim-only is 30 day notice contract-less.
You either give them 30 days notice and close the account, port to another network or move to a different plan with a contract.

Well, not until about 2019 - 2020 at this rate. Brexit is a good while away yet.

No because they are null and voiding the contract

I'm aware, I meant more that data will now only be 2/3GB as opposed to unlimited.
