I used the comreg price comparison site and it reconks my current usage would cost €1,984,026.36 per month on Vodafone simply.
I use a ton of data so I know its not a fair comparison but its funny none the less. Nearly €24 million a year. :pac: :pac::P:P

Is three the only provider that offers unlimited data usage?

I've a phone on the flex max 350 which currently costs €40.66 per month. I can't see on the site but am I facing an increase too?

If it is the Classic Flex Max 350 then yes.

I just sent my phone (bill pay, contract expiring June 2018) to be repaired under the warranty. I definitely want to cancel my contract. Should I wait until the phone is returned to me (10 days ish) or am I ok to cancel now anyway? I'm afraid if I wait they'll do something so I can't cancel.

What do you get for your €5? Looked on the site but didn't see any offer for €5 pm.

5 euro for unlimited everything (data is up to 30gb but thats plenty for me). 5 euro for 5 months for virgin customers already, 25 afterwards. non virgin members are just 25 always. 30 day contracts too, gonna test their service

Tried this for 3 months last year but had to switch again as I was unable to receive some verification texts from bank & others. Known issue with them.

Yeah I read that, might be the only issue but I have a few alternatives. How was the service though etc? Same as 3?

Well so far, Tescos has it...

"As a new Tesco Mobile customer when you top-up by €15 or more, you will receive free calls to any network and 10GB data for 30 days, free texts to all other Tesco Mobile customers and you get to keep your credit."

Tesco's "unlimited" data usage is capped at 15GB
Virgins "unlimited" data usage is capped at 30GB

It's shocking that they can get away with calling it unlimited.

    I'm currently 10 months into a 24 month Three Evolve 150 & 2GB Data contract (I moved over from O2).

Is this plan affected by the changes/price hike?

Thats the plan I'm on, thanks for the link I just couldn't find it on the site. Is it just a matter of ringing them and saying I want to be released from my contract and then getting the unlock code? It's an iPhone 6s that the missus is using. I'll be glad to get away from them tbh the service has gone to pot the last few months. I had another phone with them which is now on Vodafone and I can't believe how good the coverage and Internet is.

    Advice:
    - DH signed a new contract in February (Classic flex)
    - daughter signed a new contract in February (mini flex)
    - I am due an upgrade since last week. (Classic flex)

I need a new phone. My son needs his first phone. What's the cleverest way of working this?

You still have to give your 30 days notice, dont rush off and move networks right after cancelling - you are giving them your notice by "cancelling" you will still be billed for the next 30 days but by cancelling now you are avoiding the new charges that come into effect in April. By right you should be ordering a new sim a week before your disconnection is due to happen or if you are getting a sim from a store then a day or two before the disconnection is fine.

I'd love to know how much data you use a month, and how you use it. With the pathetic speeds I get on 3, I'd never be able to rack up a big total.

I did consider Virgin Mobile but as they are on the 3 Network and my signal is so rubbish with 3, I think this is pointless to move to them.

I have ordered a meteor & vodafone sim and will test out their network during the 30 day notice that I have given 3.

A lot of people saying signal is bad. I'm with 3 / meteor for quite a while now. I drive for a living and it's very very rare that I'm unable to use phone for both calls and data.
4g at home, so using that to tether laptop etc. No issues at all.

You are lucky, last night when I was trying to call 3 to cancel, we could barely hear each other. If I walk to the local shops, the calls fade in and out so it is impossible to have a conversation.

Wow looks like even prepay will be affected by this.....top up period is now 28 days (from 3rd April)....as opposed to 30.....bizarre!
It was so handy to just set it to top up once a month before.....not as if you can set it to do it every 28 days.
With that you do get 2GB of data to use in EU though.
    Also live chat said
AS of now, you can use unlimited Internet in 3 Like home countries
Three Like home countries are UK, Italy, Denmark, Sweden and Austria.

Also on the 20e top up a month you lose the free calls to all networks at the weekend.

If I cancel does my phone become unlocked to all networks?

Just request an unlock code from Three when you are canceling.

When I asked that, he said he can't do that. You can request it on the website.

All done - from close to 60 per month down to SIM only at 30 per month. And I still had 15 months left in contract, thanks a mill OP

Only happened into this thread by accident (don't usually check BA, will from now on!)

Less than 6 months into my contract, just called and cancelled. Less than 15 minutes including waiting time.

Moving to prepay for €20 a month (I never make regular calls except to my mother or occasionally a utility company) and if I find I miss the calls I can move again to sim only with everything for €30. Got a new S7 last September out of it too. Was on the unlimited plan so from new charge of €60 to €20 is huge. Thanks so much to the OP!

Must keep an eye out for meteor doing the same so I can change my mother's plan.

Can somebody please tell me if the €30 sim only remains as a direct debit or is it a matter of topping up every month?☺

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 Ulick Magee

It atrocious The money grabbing ................................People

Lets do the maths for Prepay

Lets do the MATHS For Three

Prepay customers now have to top up 13 times instead of 12

    500,000 customers x €20 = €10,000000

Say you miss topping up by 1 day and use €10 credit

    500,000 x €10 = €5000000

Miss one day top every month

    500,000 x €10 x 13 (times to top up) = €65,000,000

See how the figures mount up ???????????????????

SIM only remains as a DD. Pay as you go is a top up every 28 days.
