Thanks for the heads up on this, moved my 2 kids from mini flex 100 with 21 months left on their contracts to SIM only temporarily @ effectively the same monthly charge they would have been moved to, but now with only a 30 day obligation.
Also requested the unlock codes for both devices which should come in the next 24-48 hours to give me flexibility in deciding the next step.

Anyone know if this affects the FlexiFix 200 plan? The one without data, just calls and texts.

Tried to talk to a foreign guy on chat and kept wanting me to upgrade my plan. Thanks!

Virgin still have crippling bulk SMS issues meaning you can't use 2 factor authentication for things, don't get alerts from some banks etc etc.

Not sure how old that news is but I switched to them on Monday as iD had those issues.

I was able add a payee to my bank account and my credit union account via sms confirmation text.

So perhaps it was fixed recently. I'll check the 2 factor with my google account now.

Edit: checked google 2 factor and it's not working. It does work with Bank of Ireland texts though

It's really not. If I cancel my contract I end up with a useless free phone!

How will the phone be useless? It won't stop working. Just switch to pay as you go or go to another network. You could even sign up for a new contract with another new phone.

Three have broken their contract terms so you can leave without penalty and keep the phone without having to complete the contract.

I am due for an upgrade this Saturday, 4th March. I presume it would be too much to wish for that I could sign up to the upgrade on the current terms (€40.66) and then cancel if and when I get a text about the price increase and then keep the new phone. Thoughts?

thanks op. have just moved from unlimited €55 a month (18 months left) to 30 day sim only bill pay for €30 a month. he said i cant have unlock code till next month.

There shouldn't be any reason why you can't unless they inform you of the increase at checkout

Nope. You would be agreeing to the new terms by signing up now.

Thanks OP☺️ Was stuck in contract with classic flex 350 until August 2018, just called there and cancelled contract no problem at all. Moved to 30 day contract for the moment until I get a chance to suss out competition.

Funny how a thread that's critical about being fleeced by a company appears to turning into a how can we fleece an expensive smartphone from said company thread. :pac:

Just off the phone to 3. Was on 55pm contract for 24 months started last week of January with new s7 edge. Now on 30 pm rolling contract and keep phone. Happy camper ðŸ˜

After reading through this thread, I'd say Three are regretting their price hike!

Well done OP - champion of the people!!!!

There's nothing interesting really, they are processing the cancellations no problem once you are on a plan that's increasing. You'll more then likely need to ring, the cancellations dept is in Ireland where as support is India.

just thought it would be interesting to see if they tried to persuade me to keep the contract

Do you need to change the sim to switch to the rolling 30-day contract or did they simply modify on the system?

They dont. Its a strange call. All I got was thanks and no problems. I had one contract on Classic 350 and one on Mini Flex 100. Moved both to sim only Flex max 350. Saving €15 p/m based on future pricing.

    60pm down to 20pm payg.

    Saving 720e

I asked when I was on to them earlier. They just modify it on the system. No need for a new sim.

chap i was talking to was saying that the other networks will be changing too and 9 out of 10 customers are still staying with 3.

now if only this worked when sky increased their prices!!!

Just applied online to unlock daughters phone. Website says still in contract till 2018 and she just got a mail to say she's to pay 350€ for unlock. Probably best waiting for a direct chat with customer service?

I did it through web chat and he said 2 days and I'll receive code.

Called and changed to a sim only rolling contract for the minute. Cheers for the heads up as was in contract until Jan 18.

Tried to keep me with offers of unlimited minutes, texts and 7Gb of data while roaming. Then tried giving me a months free line rental. Nope!

Cheers OP, will now consider what I'll do, I only cancelled du to appalling coverage!

When people ring up and say they don't agree with the change, why don't Three just say "oh alright so, we'll leave your plan as it is until the end of your contract"

Funny how a thread that's critical about being fleeced by a company appears to turning into a how can we fleece an expensive smartphone from said company thread. :pac:

I don't disagree. I think it is bizarre behaviour from 3 that is enabling this. As a previous poster said why not just leave legacy contracts run out and apply the increase to new and renewed contracts.

The evidence from this thread seems to be showing that they are haemorrhaging customers and hardware due to their approach.

Anyone know the deal with the €20 sim only (PAYG)?

It says the offer is promotional, so how much will it be later?

Also, this Deezer thing, after 3 months it says it will be 9.99 a month...can you opt out of Deezer?

Just rang and cancelled myself and moved to sim only. Very little fuss over the phone.

Thanks to the OP for the heads up!! Saving nearly €400 a year between myself and the other half
