Ha'penny Gin is half-price, €20, in Tesco until Sunday. Haven't had it before but, at that price, sure it's worth the punt!

I just tried the Chilli and Ginger gin from Eden Mill.
    I really like this.
    It's done well.

Based on your seal of approval I bought this today....... I look forward to trying it. What would you recommend to have with it?

    I just tried it straight.
Reckon it would make a very nice G&T.
Lime should work with it or a slice of mango if you have it.

I had it in my head that I might try it with a burnt orange slice and the fever tree light.

    Cinnamon stick!
Ah here, leave the botanicals to the gin makers.
We put botanicals in so you don't have to!

Keep the garnishing simple, would be my advice.
Slice of fruit for some freshness, maybe a fresh herb leaf. Go easy on the spices.

I was given a present of a bottle of Generous Gin earlier. Haven't had a chance to try it yet but a quick Google seems to suggest tis a nice drop.
Anyone here have any experience with it?

Must be something in the air.. A friend of mine came back from Germany and brought me a bottle of Harahorn (Norwegian) gin. It’s a small batch and is fairly delicious. At 46% it’s strong too. Happy days :)

Was very tempted to buy a bottle of that on a recent SAS flight. Maybe I should have!

Got given these little puppies for Fathers Day - they’re syrup mixers in 50ml bottles.

Do I use the whole bottle as a mixer or just a bit?

The amount would depend on the cocktail.

I can't imagine a cocktail that would require the whole bottle

I got this recipe yesterday & it's a must try-

    50ml Gin
    25ml Grapefruit juice
    12.5ml of Vanilla Syrup

Shake with ice, drain and drink

    The taste is most surprising!
Let me know what you think it tastes like

Aldis Boyles Gin worth a gander...
Its €24.99 Boyle's Gin picked up gold in blind taste tests at the international The Gin Masters competition in London’s glamorous Ukai restaurant.

Had a lovely gin - Geranium Gin - in the Boathouse Bistro in Kenmare last week - their menu said "the highest rated gin in the world. Just try it and see why".
It's the best gin I've tried in a long time, quite light and refreshing. Would highly recommend!

    !

Highest Rated by whom, I wonder??
Nice gin but that scores pretty high om the BS marketing front!

Well, that's not their marketing - that was the marketing on the restaurant's menu.
    From the Celtic Whiskey Store:
    Awards and/or Press Quotes
2014 No other Gin has been awarded in all 11 most prestigious international spirits tastings
    Utimate Cocktail Challenge 2010 Winner
    Utimate Spirits Challenge 2010 Winner
    World Spirits Awards 2009 Winner

I'm guessing from an award point of view, it comes out on top, and this is where the highest rating comes from.

But there are literally hundreds of competitions - some more credible than others.
There's probably a hundred gins that could claim to be the highest rated gin in the world in some competition or another.

Gin and Lemonade the big thing over here. Although I don't think it's actually gin but the amount of bottles I've sold lately is crazy.
