Saw an AA 772 being chased around the SNN taxiways by fire trucks earlier today. From its track on FR it seems to have come straight in from LHR without any fuel dumping. Now back en route to DFW. Anyone know what the story was...?

Was it showing on FR? I’ve tried to check on this before and though I could hear it it wasn’t showing up on FR. Yet they had been showing up in the past.

Any idea what just flew at low altitude over Clondalkin towards Baldonnel just now? It wasn't either CASA. The Defender maybe?

Seen 2 small jets and a bigger one flying over Dublin bay together about a hour ago. Headed towards where you said and then let coloured smoke out. Sorry im not that up to scratch on aircraft types.

Saw on a Dublin Airport FB page that it was carrying students in and departed empty. I think someone mentioned that it's back next weekend.

Why don't helicopters show up on flightradar?

They do if they have ADS-B transponders.

Not all helicopters are equipped with ADS-B transponders, which means FR24 has to rely on MLAT technology to track them which would require them to be within range of 4 FR24 receivers, which is very sporadic at that low altitude.

You can see some helicopters on it that are equipped with ADS-B transponders, for example EI-ICS the SAR helicopter based in Waterford, the Air Corps helicopters based in Athlone, JP McManus' EI-LIM and G-HOGC operating in the south west.

Also, even with ADS-B they’d need to be in range (line of sight) of at least one receiver, and given the low altitudes they generally fly at, and any terrain in the way, they may not always show.

Edit: If you’re interested in the Coast Guard helicopters, they’re almost always visible on ship tracking sites like MarineTraffic, based on their marine AIS transponders.
