To me it looks more powerfull then Gertrude judging by this run at this stage with possibly higher winds on the coasts of coastal counties in the W /NW / N. Winds look to be penetrating more inland with this storm.Looks like plenty of gusts over 100 kph and possibly getting up to 130+ kph om coasts. Massive sea swell.

    Salthill should be exciting tomorrow!

Where is Teresa Mannion when you need her.

sorry fell for the mortal sin ....im just outside cork city ...200 asl
Your giving a very inaccurate picture of what's going on in Cork.
It's breezy at worst down here with nothing to note wind wise.
In general it's a northwest event though we may see gales tomorrow.
With little rainfall expected Tuesdays cold looks more interesting imo

    missing ireland?

Shifting south would bring the core of the most severe winds closer to ireland but this has not been forecast as of now.

When they substitute "Know" with "no" then I *know* I wouldn't be trusting them.

Met Eireann list a red warning as wind gusts in Excess of 130km/h, it seems the DWC just pushed it to 135km/h so they can call Red.

Anyway, maybe not brining kids home early from school but all other advice is valuable and should be exercised in all storms. Convince yourself that they are all non-events and you may be caught off guard one day.

This is the latest GFS 18Z run ( Been fairly consistant and accurate with these last few wind events IMO )

It would appear from looking over the last few runs that Stronger winds are making it further inland in the W/ NW / N and later in the NE.

And its the duration of these winds, possibly 10 hrs plus with gusts over 100 kph ( mean speeds 80 - 85 kph on the coasts, mean speeds 55-60-65-75 kph for the northern half of the country, the higher the nearer you get to the coasts ).

Finner recorded over 130km/hr with Gertude, they might be going on that.

    31 Jan 2016 by admin

Met Eireann is playing down the latest storm to be included in the new naming system.

Storm Henry is making landfall over the next 24 hours and is bringing winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour with it.

An orange warning’s in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick from 10 o’clock tonight.

Forecaster Harm Luijkx says it shouldn’t cause too much bother…………
