    Grange's summary for November 2015

    Very wet, warm and dull

Rainfall: Nearly as wet as 2014 and wettest since 2002.
Rainfall total of 140.4mm was 203% of the LTA and was my wettest November since 2002 but not as wet as 2014. Rainfall was very frequent throughout November despite a 3-day dry start to the month which was relief from the rain at the end of October. I recorded 4 very wet days - days with 10mm or more but 2014 was slightly higher. I recorded 26 wet days - days with 0.1mm or more - my highest for November since 2009. The 18th recorded my highest daily fall, 25.8mm which was recorded in a very short space of time and therefore, lead to severe flooding that day. Overall, despite the high rainfall total, November was an unremarkable month for rainfall.

Temperature: Record-breaking warmth at times and warmest since 2011.
My mean temperature was 9.3c, +2.4c above the LTA and this made November the warmest since 2011. November broke many records in terms of temperature for me. It recorded my highest ever November maximum temperature which was 18.4c on the 1st. My highest ever November minimum was recorded with 16.3c during the morning of the 10th. I had my lowest November minimum temperature since 2010 with -1.7c on the 21st which itself recorded my lowest November maximum temperature also since 2010 with only 5.7c. Without the cold spells of the 13th, 20th-22nd and 27th, I would of broke my warmest November on record - even though it did not feel like it - especially in the wind.

Sunshine: Relatively dull. First dull November since 2007.
Sunshine total of 63 hours was 93% of the LTA and was my first dull November since 2007 after a run of pretty sunny Novembers from 2008-2014! After a relatively sunny start, the second half with the exception of the 22nd was very dull and this lead to a decrease in sunshine. I recorded 7.1 hours on the 1st, my sunniest November day since 2011. Despite the dull conditions, I only recorded 1 completely dull day, the 23rd. Overall, November won't be remembered as a particularly sunny month OR unremarkable dull month.

Apart from breaking temperature records, November was overall, very unremarkable.

I can finally reveal that statistics show that November 2015 was my third windiest month on record after December 2013 and January 2015.

November here had rainfall about 130% of normal - we've had much worse than that!

Unfortunately my desktop to which my station is connected has gone belly up - normal service may be missing for a few days....:(

    Hopefully.
