I think Google is getting carried away! Not enough wind (or strong enough sunshine) for such a föhn effect!

(19C recorded in Valentia at 2pm though!)

Wow! A very terrible Summer with only 5 good Summer days (June 23, 30, July 1, August 12 & 18) and this November has a Summer like day! This hasn't happened in past Novembers in my records. It is gotten to a record-breaking start.

Mean temperature: 10.7c - +3.8c above normal, this could be my first warmer than normal month since last December.
    Rainfall: 0.0mm
Sunshine: 7 hours, 350% of the LTA for an average November day - not important though. 10% of my monthly LTA
Max. temperature: 18.4c - my warmest November day on record

The high here today was 16.3C, a figure that has been beaten here in November 1985, 1990 (my record year 18.5C), 1997, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2011....

As the max temp up here tends to be 1-2C lower than in the city or (depending on wind direction) on the coast I assume that most of those days recorded somewhere in the 17 -19C range down below.

But you are referring only to a single day (today) - not the month of November!

Dry with pleasant sunny spells in Castlebar, very mild at 15 degrees. 1017. Little or no wind

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,169 ✭✭✭highdef

With all this warm sun today and clear, calm and humid conditions expected tonight, I would say there will be extremely dense for again tonight - perhaps even worse than last night.

In other news, 2 towns in west Wales 50km from each other currently have a 13c temperature difference; Sennybridge @ 7c and Trawscoed @ 20c!!!

Overnight temp fell to 7.9C with a moderate fog; you could hear the trees dripping like rainfall!

(No record in the rain-gauge....which obviously isn't under any trees)

Cleared at dawn and a beautiful cloudless sunny day with a high 15.6C; after dark SE breeze picked up and a foggy mist swept in - has made pavements damp but still nothing recorded in the gauge.

Now 9.7C, SE breeze and a swirling mist/fog.
