Was there any electrical storms forecast? Because the sky has lit up a few times between 2100 and 2130 on my journey from Athenry to Ballinasloe.

Confirm lightning in Roscommon. I saw the reflection of the light then the thunder. Reckon its the cold warm front causing rising air and cloud formation, but I dunno. I think it is unexpected.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,466 ✭✭✭highlydebased

    Lightning here in Limerick too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,099 ✭✭✭✭Oscar Bravo

Not forecast as such but as with the nature of these showers they can produce sparks. there has been a lot of lightning from Donegal down the along the coast towards Galway this evening /tonight. showers will die out soon as tomorrows system starts to make inroads. if your looking for a good rainfall radar/lightning map on your phone try "NW Storm Radar"

    Snow! Sneachta! The 'white stuff'!

Very slushy heavy flakes with no chance of it sticking.

Where? Somewhere up in the hills.

Overnight and morning clear/sunny periods with moderate showers (total so far 4.4mm); the high was 6.9C at 3am...currently a breezy 5.1C...but rising.

Incredibly squally in Castlebar at the moment, some massive stray gusts mixed with hail, yesterday was not a patch on this.

After a prolonged clear/sunny period, showers have returned (to Dublin 16). 1.0mm from on ongoing shower. 5.7c atm.

prolonged moderate/heavy shower, quite rare with a Westerly - must be that bit of warmth left in the ground that is keeping the showers alive.

Temp topped out at 7.9C at 1pm; after that some more heavy showers (unusual on a SW wind), 7.0mm total since midnight.

There was sleet in some of them - this is the last time I'll use that S word - it is a pathetic indication of snow desperation to mention blobs of sleet in rain showers at 5C :o

    Now dry breezy and 5.9C.

Has not stopped raining all day. I feel for people in areas prone to flooding as even my house is surrounded by water.
I can't imagine what it is like in low lieing areas.
