I think people should be able delete old posts if they wish. I have a few old posts I would certainly like to be able delete without bothering mods.

Maybe the deleting posts feature could be extended to posts less than two days old and over 4 years old?
Good idea, unless someone's quoted it! :P

Its moot anyway- as the whole site is google cached.......

Does that make the point moot? I think you are trying to make it a mute point. I just want to delete the post from this website

If you delete a post- someone can simply look at the cached version of the site and pull it that way instead.........

For how long does that work?

    Forever

I'm sure you know nothing you put up is ever truly deleted?

But just how many people would bother?

Heres a 10+ year old thread from Boards

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=318930

with a link to an aldi page with a pair of Binos

so if you go off to Googles Cache

    http://cachedview.com/

and put in the link for the Binos

    https://www.aldi.ie/special_buys2/productnl_447.html

    You get a 404

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https://www.aldi.ie/special_buys2/productnl_447.html

I could delete this post tomorrow and check googles cache and I'd say my post will be gone in less than a week.

A long forgotten thread probably take a month.

But Boards won't allow this deletion anyway. It'd ruin the site. I'd delete all my posts after a while and my posts are like gold dust....gold dust.

Ask a Mod...if they won't delete ask an Admin...if he won't ask another Admin...last resort close account/right to be forgotten.

Not that I am going to entertain this absurd argument, but It is caught somewhere. Aldi pages are in nature fast changing, most of boards old forums remain unchanged and are cached.

I have requested mods in the different forums to have some posts with personal info removed/deleted. I was declined/ignored mostly.

If it's personal then their should be no question. Ask Gordon.

I continue to have problems posting in some threads.
A lot of the time my posts will not 'take' and I get a time-out error.

There also seems to be either a limit on post size, or something else interfering.

A short time ago I posted in this thread
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=99366738#post99366738

My post failed, so I tried again with just a couple of lines and that took.
I then did multiple edits, adding a sentence or two each time.

Eventually it would take no more and I finished my post by doing a second post with the couple of sentences I could not edit in.

This is only the latest example of what I continue to meet in various threads.

It might be thread related, or length of post related or something else.
I am unable to determine a pattern.

Maybe someone could look at this please?

Amusingly the HACK that got the Boards.ie menu under the Talk to... group shows up on a slow connection. As a page displays the old menu (5 items along the top) shows up including the separate Boards.ie menu and then the Boards.ie menu vanishes and is then found as it should be under the Talk to... menu.

Site Development is usually the place to post bugs that you found. Or at least that has usually been my experience.

I dunno ..... last time I had this problem it was this thread I reported it in as it only started happening since the big downtime.

It recovered after but not apparently for all threads.

It is hardly a development issue ....... but what do I know? :)

I don't know what's gone wrong with it, we thought it was sorted. It's back on the bugs list now though, thank you :)

On that note, I've come across quite a few 'blank' attachments on other people's posts too, over the last few days, and the only thing they had in common was the word 'clear' in the URL.

Now you say it, I noticed this yesterday too. Here's an example:

You're right Karsini, my mistake - the word 'Clear' appears in the tab 'heading', and not in the URL - now I can't remember what I saw with my 'bad' attachment...

This has just happened again. The attachment seems to be 1.76MB in size, and it's a .jpg

I did too, we've got the lads looking into that at the moment, there's a huddle and I'm hearing words like memcache and php info sessions and the likes... I'd love to pretend that I knew what exactly they were talking about, but it's beyond my tech knowledge :)

'The following errors occurred with your submission. This post is a duplicate of a post that you have posted in the last five minutes.'

Same here, as well as when clicking on say page 2 of a thread, it will load page 1 etc.

Occasional blank pages since 20 mins or so, maybe longer

Latest Chrome, Win7 but it looks serverside.
Refresh usually works and page loads

    +1. HTTP response is empty.

EDIT: Also having issues with last page directing to the 2nd or 3rd last page instead.
