What about using something like to this to track latest status and work done ?

Anyone with link should be able to edit.
I've put in Gonzo's Meath data

    FTTH Tracker

Does anyone want to help us keep this FTTH tracker spreadsheet updated ?

    FTTH Tracker

I've dates in for a lot of Kildare and Meath - I've just added the towns for that are in the first 100,000 to get FTTH for Clare, Carlow and Donegal.

I think it could be very handy to see what (if anything) has been happening in your area.

    Everyone has edit permissions.

Seeing as I've put up a lot on the boards - I was thinking of doing something similar as an actual post on boards but this makes more sense - I'll put in data later for it.

I've just done the areas from the Openeir 100000 list for the following counties:
    • Cavan
    • Donegal
    • Galway
    • Kerry
    • Laois
    • Limerick
    • Longford
    • Louth

I'll try to get some more done later.

I think it is probably best to get the 100000 list done first as areas outside of this are likely to fall into the NBP and there is no guarantee that Openeir will even be servicing them.

also markers on the map that say something like 'estimated date for first live fiber services' with no mention of 'FTTH' or blue lines from the exchange means thats an FTTC rollout only.

long_b what is to stop some clown coming in and deleting all the previously entered data. Do you have access to revisions?

Works OK for the 1000 mile challenge in the athletics forum (not me, the oh does that Stuff! ). They've been able to revert in the past..

As above - Google Sheets keeps revisions.

Real noob question coming up - do ESB and Eir share poles at all?

No they don't share poles at the minute.

I finished the rest of the counties but as I was doing it somebody came in and ****ed up the top half of the sheet. Please see if you can find the revision where I had each county done with one space between each of them.

I'm not sure if this is going to work if randoms can edit it. ****ing two hours work ruined.

New EU rules will make eir allow others in, though they've already offered as they knew it was coming. How that'll impact ESB though is unclear due to the safety card.

Fixed most of it now at 3.50. I haven't gone over the dates again so if anybody wants to double check. Some of Dublin is still missing.

I've updated Kildare to only include the towns for the first 100K and moved the non first 100K to a second sheet.
Looks like Robertstown will be first as it's the only one with Winter 2016.

I've also protected the first two columns as these shouldn't need to be updated now (County and Exchange)
I've also removed the filtering as it may confuse people.

@navei - if bad edits become a problem we can work something out.

Must say I find it great to get some sort of an idea of what may be going on around the country.

Would Eir have a right to access their poles (similar to ESB?).
Down our way the line goes past a farmer who has form in this area unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Eir have no wayleave and would have to request the farmers permission. As such most of the time their poles are located in the ditch on the roadside of the hedgerows with CoCo permission instead.

Something changed with the FTTH tracker? I added some yesterday and tried to go back and do more now, but I can't insert any rows in the relevant places.

I see County and Exchange columns are "protected" and can't be edited, which presumably means they also can't be moved so I can't insert new rows? It's only on the first sheet, not the second.

Yeah I was editing it last night and somebody came in and ruined the top half of it so long_b protected the columns. Dublin is not finished and I can't edit it now. Also some exchanges in Meath need to be moved to the other sheet as they are not in the 100K.

I think the way Spongebob did the FTTC map was that there was a master map that only he could edit. I'm not sure if that is feasible with this though.

I have added some more exchanges to the Non 100K sheet. They are mainly H2 2017 but annoyingly I found one in Donegal with a Winter/Spring deadline that was not on the Openeir first 100K list.

Also somebody has changed Kilkenny city to live. Not to be pedantic but I believe there is nowhere live yet for the rural rollout. The Kilkenny premises are most likely urban connections. The first live date for this is the 28th of September.

Edit: They have also put 2017 -2020 connections in the wrong sheet whilst deleting one of the first 100K exchanges. This is not working long_b.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,555 ✭✭✭JohnC.

It doesn't specify it's only for the rural rollout and there are several other places live too. Wexford, Greystones, Monaghan, Castlebar, Dundalk and Tralee.

Edit: As for "wrong sheet" there was only one sheet yesterday when they were added.

How about posting updates in the thread with only a select few with editing capabilities?

I'm pretty sure I did Kilkenny last night and you are in the Eir rural FTTH thread.

It would have been better to decide the format first instead of making fundamental changes after people were invited to add exchanges to it. There was only one sheet with everything and there was Naas as Live on it at the time too. I didn't add anything that didn't exist for other exchanges already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,982 ✭✭✭long_b

OK - if people just want to post updates here then I will add them to the sheet for the time being.

I'll put in the first 100K and then we can either restrict editing or use a master sheet.

Sorry if I appeared short with you. I agree there should have been some set format. I'll leave it up to long_b to decide what he wants to do as it was his idea originally.

    OK, I hear you folks.

This isn't rocket science - we can do this !

I've put in/checked the number of exchanges as far and including Galway - first 100K exchanges now mind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,982 ✭✭✭long_b

Right - all exchanges listed on the first eir's first 100K sheet are now in the main sheet - "First_100K"
I've protected the first 2 columns of the "First_100K" workbook so that this list stays put.

The other sheet is for "Other_Exchanges" - all other exchanges that aren't mentioned in the first 100K list.
Same format. No-ones edits should be lost.

Open to any suggestions as to adding/removing columns as long as we have some sort of consensus.

maybe it should be put in a sticky post? so people don't have to go back many pages to find the spreedsheet? This could be updated over the next 3-4 years so could be very usefull information for people untill Open Eir come up with a much more detailed map showing progress?

Was the Ennis exchange not listed (announcement) in the first 100,000 of blue-lines?

It was, it's in the spreadsheet - just hasn't been updated yet.
