Do online quotes usually be more expensive than ringing up? Mine is gone up over a 100 euros from last year but any online quote is even more expensive

I renewed for my wife (39) with me as named Driver with SuperValu on our 2017 Leaf, €395.22 fully comp. I did try Chill but the cheapest there was €570. I could have done a bit more research but wasn't bothered.

Apologies, duplicate comment on the ‘09 avensis quote

  • Registered Users Posts: 539 ✭✭✭turbodiesel

Just wonder was the 09 avensis the last of the old model or the first of the newer one?

    Age 32 (m),

    2017 Kia Sportage 1.7 diesel

    Full NCB. (11 years)

Aviva for the last 5 years Fully comp with breakdown assist etc

    September 2001: €448 Hyundai IX35 2014

    September : €415

    September 2023: €3,325 NOT JOKING

So Last night I got this email basically saying based on their records etc that my renewal is almost 10 times the amount I paid for my policy last year.

In that year I have had no accidents or penalty point claims. Been trying to get through to them all morning. Seriously hoping its a mistake on their end. Got a quote from Revolut (AIG) and one from Liberty too in the last hour bot around the 380 mark.

Why even bother wasting your time trying to contact them?

    F*ck 'em!

Renewal came in from AXA at €500. I was thinking "was it not €400 last year?" and my only email is a quote of €530, makes sense that it was over the phone. I'll need to give them a call...

AA, Aviva, Allianz, An Post, Liberty and Zurich are all between €500-600.

Considering claims have been dropping and insurance going down in the last year or so it's disappointing to see a 25% increase after shopping around. 6 years NCB should mean something!

  • Registered Users Posts: 219 ✭✭Muller1991

They can't be bothered to answer my calls, When I eventually got through to an agent they didn't understand my issue lol.

Long story short I renewed with Revolut (AIG) for 355 all the bells and whistles included.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,944 ✭✭✭Eggs For Dinner

Can I ask how you got a Revolut quote? I can only find travel insurance on the app. TIA

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,818 ✭✭✭CoBo55

  • Registered Users Posts: 823 ✭✭✭raxy

Revolut is only offering insurance in stages. Update the app & it may show up.

    I got a quote & it was 1830. Aig was 2472.

Got it through cover in a click for 492

Just wondering, with RSA(123.ie) for years. They have an online renewal system and say they don't entertain other companies quotes. Problem is I done a quote online and as a new customer and it's working out cheaper? Can I go ahead or would that be invalid? Also anyone any dealings with kennco insurance? Thks

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,605 ✭✭✭Cape Clear

It's a valid quote but they will probably ask you to submit all your documents again as if you have never been their customer.

    FBD 2022: €310

    FBD 2023: €410

All other providers (Axa, Liberty, other through chill) were at least €50 more with the exception of Aviva who were €423 for the same cover

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,944 ✭✭✭Eggs For Dinner

I've done a fair amount of quotes lately for family members and have found AIG to be very competitive with high levels of cover. Have you tried them?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,136 ✭✭✭Markus Antonius

I didn't try them as I'm fairly sure I got some scandalously high quotes off them before. Just checked with them: 359 for comprehensive, full NCB protection (750 voluntary excess (takes €50 off)). Arrrggggghhhh!!!!

Isn't there a cooling off period? Fairly sure I could cancel my FBD and switch to AIG...

Edit: Cancelled FBD no problem and now with AIG

I look after my father in law who is now in his 80's. Quotes regardless of age of car are holding at about 650 for the last 5 years. He has fully comp, full NCB currently on a brand new Corolla. Recently had cars about 5 years old and price is same.

  • Registered Users Posts: 823 ✭✭✭raxy

Think you get 14 day cooling off period. You can still cancel after but they reduce the refund the longer it is so probably not worth it if the 14 days is up.

I usually get a quote from AIG just for laughs. This year's AIG quote €2472. Policy I bought was €592 so 4 timers the amount.

It was time for the annual merry-go-round and first time with a 15 year old car (not my first 3.0 litre)

    41 year old male.

    2008 Audi A5 3.0tdi quattro sline

Fully comp with class 1, step-back, breakdown and driving other cars

Last year Zurich via Quote Devil €680

Renewal via Quote Devil best quote... Allianz 730

    Online quotes

    AIG 950

Allianz - No quote (despite being QD's best quote??)

    FBD 779

    AA 637

    Aviva - No quote

    Liberty 692

Chill 568 Allianz (but no option to add class 1) Laughably this was 522 with a different start date (but still no class 1)

    123.ie via RSA 571

    Kennco 676

    SuperValu 870

    And the winner....... Zurich

So Quote Devil Reckoned Zurich renewal was 770 (despite it saying 690 on the form)

Went on their website got 660

Took a call and as I've the house with them they went 589

Shopped a bit more and sent them the 123.ie quote - they've dropped to 564......

It's worth taking the phone calls this year, some years it's pure pointless.

    41 yrs

    08 BMW 520d

    Full NCB 10+ yrs

    FBD 2022 (New customer) 405

    Renewal FBD 2023 - 582

40% increase. Absolutely no way are they getting that. Sick to the teeth of this bs every year. Does anyone ever get a renewal in the post that is fair and reasonable, maybe a modest increase, or shock horror, a reduction?

Now for the annual form filling for half a day online......

    Full NCB 10+ years

Fully comp. incl. use for work and adding me as a named driver.

Already have another motor policy and home insurance with Aviva.

Aviva sent out renewal for €450, priced around, called Aviva and with some pressing got them down to €385 and very happy with that.
