Why even bother wasting your time trying to contact them?
F*ck 'em!
Someone's typed to many numbers by mistake .
Exactly 👍
Renewal came in from AXA at €500. I was thinking "was it not €400 last year?" and my only email is a quote of €530, makes sense that it was over the phone. I'll need to give them a call...
AA, Aviva, Allianz, An Post, Liberty and Zurich are all between €500-600.
Considering claims have been dropping and insurance going down in the last year or so it's disappointing to see a 25% increase after shopping around. 6 years NCB should mean something!
They can't be bothered to answer my calls, When I eventually got through to an agent they didn't understand my issue lol.
Long story short I renewed with Revolut (AIG) for 355 all the bells and whistles included.
Can I ask how you got a Revolut quote? I can only find travel insurance on the app. TIA
I was wondering that too.
Revolut is only offering insurance in stages. Update the app & it may show up.
I got a quote & it was 1830. Aig was 2472.
Got it through cover in a click for 492
Just wondering, with RSA(123.ie) for years. They have an online renewal system and say they don't entertain other companies quotes. Problem is I done a quote online and as a new customer and it's working out cheaper? Can I go ahead or would that be invalid? Also anyone any dealings with kennco insurance? Thks
It's a valid quote but they will probably ask you to submit all your documents again as if you have never been their customer.

I've done a fair amount of quotes lately for family members and have found AIG to be very competitive with high levels of cover. Have you tried them?
I didn't try them as I'm fairly sure I got some scandalously high quotes off them before. Just checked with them: 359 for comprehensive, full NCB protection (750 voluntary excess (takes €50 off)). Arrrggggghhhh!!!!
Isn't there a cooling off period? Fairly sure I could cancel my FBD and switch to AIG...
Edit: Cancelled FBD no problem and now with AIG
33(M), 2015 Focus 1.6 diesel (€10.5k), Initial quote in 2021 was on L plate with 3 months named on other policy, Full licence since June 2022, Fully comp.

2022: €609
2023: €505

I look after my father in law who is now in his 80's. Quotes regardless of age of car are holding at about 650 for the last 5 years. He has fully comp, full NCB currently on a brand new Corolla. Recently had cars about 5 years old and price is same.
Think you get 14 day cooling off period. You can still cancel after but they reduce the refund the longer it is so probably not worth it if the 14 days is up.
I usually get a quote from AIG just for laughs. This year's AIG quote €2472. Policy I bought was €592 so 4 timers the amount.
It was time for the annual merry-go-round and first time with a 15 year old car (not my first 3.0 litre)

It's worth taking the phone calls this year, some years it's pure pointless.

40% increase. Absolutely no way are they getting that. Sick to the teeth of this bs every year. Does anyone ever get a renewal in the post that is fair and reasonable, maybe a modest increase, or shock horror, a reduction?
Now for the annual form filling for half a day online......

Revolut with AIG?
Male 49, full licence, full NCB, no points, claims or convictions for 25+ yrs. Renewal on 191 2.0D Arteon through AIG golfer insurance for 395E. No one else even close and the AIG policy is fully comp and fully loaded. Slightly up on last yr, but only what is reflected on higher value car. Anyone with GUI membership should really be all over this AIG golfers insurance, hard to beat, no one has in about 5 yrs and I priced around every year.
Yes
Anyone have a link for GUI please?
I used a funny thing called google and went through the results and hey presto....https://www.aig.ie/our-sponsorships/golf#:~:text=Golf%20Ireland%20Members%20Save%20An%20Additional%2010%25%20on%20Car%20Insurance&text=Avail%20of%20a%20Maximum%2065,to%20switch%20to%20AIG%20today.
Thanks for that. I was nearly there searching 'gui' and kept getting golfIreland links. Nothing there about GUI though. Think I searched Golf Union Ireland (me guessing) as well. Nada. Searched using DDG, maybe that was why.
Anyway, don't play so can't avail. Thanks again.
Car: 2017 Mercedes 190B, 50k km
Driver: male, no points, named driver for 8 years on a policy for a car in my wife's name.
Contacted existing insurer (Liberty) to see if we could add the car to the policy. Refused. O.K. then, issue me the policy. Couldn't find the car in their database. I didn't have the reg number at the time, they told me to call back when I had more information. Called back, was told that my file was 'locked' and the person on the phone would IM the first person I talked to, to unlock it, and they'd call me back.
That was 2 days ago. In order to insure the car, I need a 'letter of named driver' from Liberty. They had a web page for that, but it says it'll take 72 hours. The new insurer (AA) will wait 5 days for the letter.
So, my question here is, it seems like Liberty, to be generous, don't have their act together. AA found the car just fine even without the reg number, and issued me a quote which I bought. They also said they could wait for the letter of named driver from me for 7 days. The salesperson indicated if there are problems they can wait up to 21 days.
I'm fine with AA but if they have to rescind the policy, then what? Besides Liberty and AA, who would you recommend? And will I face this 'named driver letter' problem no matter where I go? Can't I get insurance without it? Can't my wife have a second car on her policy?
Thanks.
