Given the talk of disparity between coding for the WiiU vs the Switch, presumably there are significant architectural differences under the cosmetic similarities. So I would dispute the WiiU pro tag, but then maybe you've been using yours on the go with a car battery in your backpack all this time so having all that power in your pocket is only a minor upgrade.

So it's not a dedicated console then it's a mix of both? It's what I've being saying since the start. I read books on the go, never able to get into a game out and about. Even the NDS when I had one never left the house.

So its not for you, and yet here you are... It must be torture. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. We're here for you!

Ahh yes time to resort to smart comments. Didn't know I wasn't allowed to comment on the poor performance upgrade

That's the weakest statement on this thread yet, and there has been some weak nonsense on this thread so far.

How so? It's a 3 year old game coming out on a new console.

You can comment all you like about anything you like, but making statements you know are inflammatory and then complaining about the reaction is poor form.
There have been others with concerns about the X1 processor rather than something more impressive and that's cool, but smart comments don't seem to be the exclusive purview of those looking forward to the Switch and you know it.

PS4 Pro is the only console that does this, and only a handful of old/non demanding indie games run at that res. The rest of the patched games use checkerboard rendering to help out.

Zelda runs at 900p not 1080p. Surely if was so much more possible it could easily do full HD. The Wii U had a lot of stuff that weighed the OS down. Wii U also has to display on 2 screens, something the Switch can't do nor has to consider.

Mario Kart and Splatoon on Switch look no better to me than their Wii U counterparts, at least to me, there's slight improvements sure. Super Mario Odyssey, a game, while beautiful, doesn't look a step above Wii U and is surely a game built from the ground up specifically for Switch.

If Nintendo are running the online through a mobile app then they'll likely be saying that the consumer has the internet there too. They may not bog down the Switch with apps and instead let your phone do it and at the same time save battery life. But your phone will be running down. They say they'll consider an internet browser, but I don't know. Nintendo said a lot of stuff when the Wii U launched that never came to fruition.

The Switch is doing some things right, most importantly easy to develop for but I think it's making a lot of mistakes too.

Denial is an early step, but any step means we've begun our journey, and our destination is closer - Healing.

Comment away, but your interest seems to be unhealthy. You have by your own admission no use for this console's USP so you might be better served by one of its more powerful competitors. Unless you really love Inklings, and I mean who doesn't?

Nothing inflammatory about what I'm saying, most major games media outlets are saying the same thing about the console.

However in here it's a different story

We should stop feeding him methinks, played the 4k comment a bit early

To actually appreciate 4K, you would (mathematically) need a broadcast monitor or an 80 inch television. Lacking both of those, the human eye can settle for 2K (just over 1080p).

Was that actually necessary? What did you contribute to the discussion? I mentioned new points in my last post.

I never said it ran at 1080p, which is kinda disappointing being honest. But it has a superior draw distance, framerate, lighting(could be time of day differences in game though), load times and maybe more, all while undocked. The Switch will be noticeably quicker while docked.

Mario kart is displaying 2.25 more pixels in splitscreen while maintaining 60fps, which is quite the difference. Fast Racing Rmx is doing the same.

Splatoon so far is 720p apparently while docked, which is disappointing but hopefully could change in the coming months.

Sadly that's Nintendo, always some idiocy to combat the good they do.

The fact Capcom have gone with SF2 as opposed to SFV speaks volumes too imo(testing the dev kit or not).

The closer to launch, the more bemusing this console is seeming

Capcom are also porting the resident evil 7 engine to Switch though, as well as wanting to make 'AAA' games for the system as they said recently. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

You're obviously trying to provoke reactions posting this nonsense. Stop it now please.

Everyone else, please stop rising to the bait.

That's a touch unnecessary. Sligeach is laying out his opinions in a fair an balanced way, there's no need to berate him for same.

Hadn't read anything about them porting the Resi 7 engine, that'd be pretty cool if it were the case!

I'd honestly love to jump on this train but I'm a year into having a ps4 after spending all my life with Nintendo machines but Switch doesn't have party chat?
    Deal breaker I'm afraid.
Gutted they didn't get that right.

It does, but from what they've said, it sounds like it's via a smartphone app. Which makes little sense tbh, so I'm hoping that's only for arranging such things, and it actually works via the console itself. Will just have to wait and see! Will be sad not to have ya in the friends list this time round!

Going to miss the lot of you here as well. Ahh the heady games of Cod, Mario Kart etc...fun times.
I am honestly raging though. The ps4 opened my eyes to being able to enjoy the social part of gaming a lot more and made me think about the ten years or so before then that others were enjoying that sort of thing on other consoles.
I honestly can't go back to not being able to chat to mates as soon as I turn on the machine no matter what game I'm playing.
Don't get me wrong; I'd fekin love a go of it, but I'm not willing to go back a decade.

The thing that was said about voice chat was in relation to Splatoon and being able to chat in the lobby and then just your teammates during the matches. Nothing has been said about party chat. It may just be on a game to game basis whether there's voice chat. This is one of the things they need to clear up in a Direct.
