I think Doireann Ni Bhrian went Producing. So behind the cameras.
A good few do that, so watch the credits and you'll see some familiar names, occasionally.

Speaking of Don't Feed The Gondolas here's someone else you don't see much of these days, Mr Pussy.

He was the best part of 60 even then.

Will say one thing about Brendan O Connor, he looks far better since he lost the weight. He used to look like Brendan Behan's lovechild back in the 90's.

OK folks, could we dial it back with the outright abuse of people please, and if there were no more comments that could end Boards in court that would also be great thanks.

I'd forgotten about Claire McKeon. The format itself was interesting and it had its moments but Claire herself was an acquired taste. What became of her?

He was the best part of 60 even then.

Wrote a book, 'Mr P*ssy: Before I Forget to Remember'-I dunno if the 'p' word is censored, but I put the asterisk there myself.
It's on Amazon, came out in 2016.

And I Gavin Friday wrote a song about him/ her. (I don't know the pronoun's chosen).

I seen him perform in a pub on a sunday afternoon nearly 30 years ago now. Absolutely hilarious.

Dunno if anyone remembers it, but she did a reality TV show with Amanda Brunker, Blathnaid, Emma 'wot used to be in Six', Fiona McShane (the RTe continuity presenter who used to be a model), Sorcha Furlong from Fair City, and Eileen Reid. Charity 252, it was for the Telethon, and ran for a week or two. (Eileen won it). They hosted a radio station, and were voted out by the public.
Each week a male celeb would join them-no point other than to add testosterone to the room, including Jason McAteer, Eamon Dunphy, that Fair city actor who's storyline involved him having an affair with his older teacher (it made an RTE Guide cover), and that was it.

    http://www.iftn.ie/production/Generators/?act1=record&aid=73&rid=569&tpl=archnews&force=1

The lady's were absolutely horrible to Emma-especially Brunker and McShane (accused her of getting 'work' done-such as a boob job. Brunker even continued those accusations in her SW column). Jason McAteer had to comfort her during his appearance-as they made her cry.

Clare was the first voted out-used to write an agony aunt column too, I think in Woman's Way.
Her and Brunker haaaattteeedddd one another-Clare had her number, so to speak.
McKeon, or one of her businesses, got hit for tax years after 252.

    https://www.independent.ie/business/irish/television-star-and-hotel-hit-by-huge-bills-in-tax-list-26423173.html

And she got hit for over £100 000 years before 252.

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/presenter-shocked-by-tax-bill-for-100000-26076252.html

She was also on the horrific RTE 'debate of the sexes' show, where a load of wagons complained about men, but it really amounted to their terrible taste in guys.

From what i gather, she's either a food blogger, or moved into the food industry and beauty industry in Cape Town. This article doesn't talk about her too kindly.

Could very well have been. It was a station I never listened to, during the show's airing.

It also could have been to do with the telethon-I don't really know.

Conrad Gallagher's name pops up in the comments. That guy spreads cheer where ever he goes.

Eileen Reid, another name from the past. She used to be in the Cadets Showband but my main memory of her was that at some point she seemed to have gone down the road of Dana style religious fanaticism and her occasional appearances on panel discussions where she came across as very dogmatic and one note.

She appears now and again on the panel on Elaine Crowleys chat show on be3. Made a revelation of an affair an unplanned pregnancy and a miscarriage on tv3 a few yrs back. Religion is a big part of her life now.

Remember when, again, he wasn't paying his bills-so the company who made his restaurant sign took it down-and he went all 'don't panic'. He popped up on everything, from DFTG to Gerry Ryan's chatshow. His real name is Finian, as well.

    https://www.thesun.ie/news/2076849/disgraced-chef-conrad-gallagher-moves-to-qatar-and-reverts-back-to-his-birth-name-after-his-debt-dodging-antics/

Apparently he pulled the same crud in south Africa, that he did in Ireland. And went broke too. Now he's in Qatar, and will probably go bust in a few months.

Personally, I think his biggest crime was that shockingly bad reality show he did on TV3, the one where they tried to imitate Hells Kitchen, but with him in charge. There was an Irish chef version, and a 'celebrity' version-where Twink 'won' but was her usual absolutely horrific self.
I think the finale was meant to be live from his restaurant, but was pre-recorded a week before the sign from his restaurant was taken down.
Atlantic went off-air in early 2002.

Was that news tho, or just another 'rehash' story? I remember she was pretty popular on early RTE, and then my mom said she hated seeing her on tv, because of the cheating and so on. (It killed her popularity, circa early 90s, even for someone like Gay Byrne, she wouldn't appear on his show).
Her going around and being all preachy just irritates the hell out of me-
don't flipping throw stones when you've destroyed your glass house.
It's the same crud Kim Davis pulled.

She features on the soundtrack of State of Grace, the Sean Penn movie.
Also pops up as Imelda's mammy in The Commitments.

Regarding Atlantic-was that how they got the studio and radio station? Could very well have been how RTe did the show on the cheap.

Speaking of cheap, anyone know what happened to that glass box from TV3's the Box? (Or was it the cube?) Normal people shoved into a perspex 'house' and then asked questions to earn money.

Remember his genius ideas for ending the recession? All unemployed people should go out and work 60 hours a week for no wages whatsoever.
Every unemployed person in Ireland should start their own business.

First class spoofer, he used to say he only slept three hours a night and never stopped working, a poster on boards said they sat across from him on a flight to America and he was snoring his head off the whole way. Feck off with your penny apples.

His girlfriend sued him as well-despite living in the same house.

He also has a ticket on that Space X mission-the one Richard Branson or Elon Musk is involved in. It cost 250 000 quid.
    But he's 'broke' now....;)

He claimed '4 hours' or something-a habit from the days he was working as a kid. (Winston Churchill also slept the same amount of time, but he also had insomnia and fairly bad depression. And was miserable).

He was entertaining on the Apprentice, but a pain otherwise. (Also, remember that one who won on the Apprentice one year, but was caught out with cocaine not so long ago? She claimed it was 'a one off'...yeah right. A one off is getting points on your license, one year. She used to be a model, and we all know they love their powder).

Of course they are. The way they prodded him onto stage.
"He sings in clubs, and he enjoys it".
He clearly doesn't. The fear in his eyes on the Late Late. His bemusement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOpY0B0r9MU It can get quite creepy, the way he mimics voices and accents. When he sings country songs, he's clearly copying a version by Daniel O'Donnell or one of the three Queens, Philomena, Susan or Margo - hence the weird Nordie inflection.

Yeah-the video has that comment in the bottom-the crap about vaccines.

I was wondering that too-about his supposed 'love' of singing-it looks like he's scared crapless.

Yes, his parents clearly want him as a club act. They are deluded. Especially as they think he's a great singer. His enunciation, well he can't speak, it's like when I sing French language lyrics I've only heard. It's only gobbledegook to his ears. When I heard Claude Francois sing My Way as Francais,I thought, "dom-dooby-doo-dah". Of course, it's Comme d'habitude.

The 'freakshows' of PT Barnum's age never went away-instead we got the parents shoving them onstage. Barnum wouldn't stress out his talent, or make them overly uncomfortable.

But 'showbiz' parents...oh they are the lowest of the low.
