No, he just preaches about crazy strict dieting and workout regiments.....even I cringe when you hear him talking about it.

There's nothing crazy with his regime, but it is super healthy and requires some amount of mental discipline. He's always been ahead of the game when it comes to maximizing his health and his career longevity. It kinda reminds me of Ryan Giggs and how he got over the plague of hamstring injuries he used to suffer. He turned to yoga and it sorted out his niggling injury problems. Giggs himself said he believed daily yoga was a very big reason for the career longevity he had. I take my hat off to athletes who have that kind of focus.

Giggs' fitness/longevity came from shagging, fact. :pac:

wow.. not a good time to be a 9ers fan

Unreal... two years ago they looked like they might have one of the better linebackers corps in league history if they could keep them together for 4-5 years. Willis has retired, Aldon Smiths career is effectively done (calling this one now), Bowman might not be the same player after that injury, Borland is retired, and now this. That is nuts.

Oh, and the two most important guys in the line ahead of them to help them shine are also gone.

I'm going to go ahead and say it (as a Man utd fan), I am somewhat suspicious of Giggs' later years.

I have a code for 15% off the NFL Europe store if any regular wants it? It has to be used by August 31st and I won't use it so it might as well go to someone who will. AFAIK you can't use it to buy a Nike jersey which is a bit crap I know.

? It's not like he continued to rampage down the wing. He had some seriously bad years in between being a flying winger and being a midfielder that sat and picked passes. Nothing really suspicious at all about it.

he'd be crap for most the game, doing that irritating flick around the corner - to no one - and get an assist or goal in the 89th minute which would fool everyone into thinking he'd been awesome.

Appreciation thread? Judging by the sniping I read in a couple of posts, I thought I stumbled into the soccer forum.

    Has everyone seen this?
On the eve of the new NFL season, Sky Sports News HQ will report live from across America bringing fans the latest news and behind-the-scenes access to all 32 teams in 12 hours.

Sky Sports trying to introduce drama, a la Deadline Day? I'd rather they didnt.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

Especially since there's not really much drama at all to report then - whoever made this decision mustn't be too familiar with the actual NFL or they would have targeted the first day or two of free agency like this. Now that's when the action happens.

What they're doing now sounds less like the 'deadline day' stuff and more like if they were to attempt that before the first day of the Champions League group stages... in mid September. When there is very little to report on other than the upcoming matches, lineups, injuries, suspensions and the odd position battle (typically between two lower-profile players). Which is basically the same as any Saturday for the 15 weeks after.

Bet you it will be nothing more than a quick 10/15 minute summary of each team's offseason and nothing more.

They do it for football, called 92 live. It's not at all like the Deadline Day, just a quick update on how each team are looking, who they lost/added, few predictions for the season etc.

It's a handy way of catching up on all the teams.

normally we get info like this on the company intranet and also usually a competition to win some stuff, so far nothing yet.. but flying someone around that much is going to be costly

Jesus lads, it is a tiny bit of extra coverage and exposure for the league. would you prefer for Sky not to make any effort at all?

It's not the idea I'm against in fact I like it, its Jim white I can't stand he doesn't have a clue about nfl, surely there is someone on the sky team that's better suited to it then him, I found him utterly annoying at the draft

    Best Award Guesses?

MVP: Peyton Manning (Perhaps his final year, and he'll most likely become the Record Passing Yard Holder)
    OPOTY: Aaron Rodgers
    DPOTY: Aaron Donald
OROTY: Amari Cooper (There's a lot of A's here...)
    DROTY: Vic Beasley
    Comeback Player: Eric Berry

I know its probably weird for a QB to win MVP and the have a different QB win OPOTY, but I'm going with it

peyton wont win mvp, with the recieving core as it is I don't think AR will either, probably romo if he can run it like last year

Yeah, probably not, but I'm going with sentiment.

Had actually forgotten about Nelson going down. That's a very valid point.

    I'd go

    MVP: Andrew Luck
    OPOTY: Antonio Brown
    DPOTY: Khalil Mack
    OROTY: Nelson Agholor
    DROTY: Leonard Williams
    Comeback Player: Navarro Bowman

Don't the poty predictions generally have their own thread? So not to clog this one up

Someone usually starts a new season prediction thread alright. I didn't even post in the thread last year, so I couldn't be bothered starting one.

Jay gruden is having a press conference atm and he's officially announced that kirk cousins is the Washington Redskins regular season starting QB. And he said its "kirks team." Jesus is a bit soon to call RGIII a bust ?

felt he was last season at this stage he's a reclamation project for another team he never learned how to run smart he runs like vick instead of wilson and he does not have the body to take the hits ala cam (also he's a poor pocket passer). at this stage i could see him banging round the league for years ala vick but being forced to retire earlier. he should be done as a redskin as they've not shown the ability to use him and i don't think gruden wanted him day one

Griffin has lost all presence in the pocket, tbh. He craps the pants, can't even remotely go through his progressions, and makes High School level mistakes. I'm not even exaggerating.

There was potential for a very good QB there, as even in his first pre season, he showed he could perform in a WC offense, before they moved primarily to an option, more ad hoc type of offense during the regular season run, but he has regressed massively.

Regressing from your rookie year is a sure fire way to get kicked from the NFL.
