some people take a lack of respect really badly, and tbh geno was taking the piss

So it is justified to throw a punch breaking a guys jaw? Bowles has said Geno had turned around when the punch was thrown.

If that is the case then Enempkali is nothing short of a skumbag and should be treated as such by fans. If Geno didn't see the punch coming, considering the size of IK, he is probably lucky to have only suffered a broken jaw.

It's one thing making jokes about the situation, and I have been doing it myself, but to hear people blame Smith is rubbish.

again the only person that said Geno was being disrespectful is Ryan Clark, Clark is good friends with IK and they also are training partners during the off season. Why are people taking this as gospel? IKs camp has spun this without taking any real responsibility, and sources outside of him have made it seem alot less like Geno provoked the situation, but we'll just ignore that

No excuse to blast someone in the face, tbh. When Rice was banned for hitting his girlfriend, people rightfully said that you should never hit anyone, let alone a woman, so not sure what's changed for some people (although not necessarily on this forum) to think its OK for IK to knock Geno out.

Regardless, I think its very fair to question Geno's authority and respect as a person and QB of the Jets. A QB has to be far more than just a good player, from a technical stand point.

Its a very unique position in Sports.

There's a reason a QB wears a red shirt to make them standout during training camp and that's because you don't want them getting crippled on a play. As a franchise leader their well being is always paramount. Now Geno is no Rodgers or Brady, but as the possible starter he needs to be protected just as much. And for a teammate to then go and break his jaw and to potentially do untold damage to the season and franchise. That for me is completely unacceptable on every level.

I'm not interested in the semantics of who is to blame or who said what to whom. For me the bottom line is, everybody knows you do not hit your own QB and handicap your own team. Every kid playing football knows that and I think the Jets did the right thing in getting rid of the guy.

Apparently Geno wasn't sucker punched, he is said to have pointed in IK's face and asked him what he was going to do about it when IK asked him again about the money.

I think it was Reddit where someone said this isn't the first document case of Geno Smith being unable to read a defense :pac:

According to some NY writers Geno has lost a lot of that locker room after that incident. It's not really surprising considering he was getting booed at camp and has shown very little to indicate he'll be anything else but a bust.

If he didn't like the answer, he's shouldn't have asked what he was gonna do about it. That's just acting the bollix in fairness, you act the bollix to an nfl player, you have to expect consequences.

A lot of them do seem to be very stupid and very violent. And clearly IK is both. He has a lot more to worry about now than getting $600 back.

I presume he is still facing the prospect of a call from the NFL or even the police to add to the misery of moving from NYC upstate to Buffalo...

There was a lot of talk about Jarryd Hayne when he left the NRL to go play American Football. He didn't do too badly on his debut last night, including this run.

yeah watched a few of his highlights this morning, seems he did well but i think he was going against 2nds, be interesting to see what he can do with the 1st team as he looks like he has skills

You really can see his rugby background from his strides. Hard to explain but it just looks a bit... different (knees don't go as high, for one).

First look at the eagles this year. Sanchez gets the start today. lets see what we got.

Yeah he just looks that bit slower than the other lads but could be to do with getting used to pads etc. He was an absolutely fantastic player in rugby league that I loved watching in that code so hopefully he gets a chance in the NFL. He'll be very effective lined up across a lot of different positions as his ball skills are brilliant

Not sure he'll make the roster to be honest. Maybe if he continues to excel as a punt returner he'll get a spot but I think the practice squad is more likely.

Eye catching run against the second string but he'll need to be able to pass block to make it as a running back in the NFL.

49ers running backs are likely to be Hyde, Bush and Hunter.

Yeah I agree that he still has a long way to go to get on the 53 esp as an out and out running back but I honestly believe he could evolve into a very effective "gimmick" player like Harvin, Randel El etc where he can line up all over the field, be used in trick plays or wildcat formations etc as I think he is far superior to those other lads in that aspect of the game.

However a role like that would probably need a very open minded and forward thinking coach and I don't think Tomsula is that guy. I hope he gets a shot but it would be no more than 50-50 at this stage.

if he keeps showing flashes i think he could get on the roster or worst case scenario the practise squad hes incredibly raw right now and he has impressed in his one game already the potential for development is massive he could be a very very tempting project for someone

If he's put on the he practice squad they'd risk him being snapped up by another team. So it'll certainly be interesting to see what happens.

Apparently he surprised people on pass protection drills by stuffing the starting LBs.

He needs to lower his pad level a bit, looks odd running like a rugby player out there, but I'd say he has a chance to make a roster somewhere if he can show a few more good kick returns.
Probably wont make the 49ers roster, but look at what Richardson is doing....I'd take Hayne over him any day...

he'll 100% be claimed if he's put on PS.

    It can always get worse...

(Soon to be ex-)49ers WR Jerome Simpson suspended 6 games under substance abuse policy.

also 49ers traded TE Asante Cleveland to the Patriots for lineman Jordan Devey. I know little to nothing about either guy.

EDIT: 49ers saying they knew this was a possibility when they signed him as it relates to an arrest in 2014, he'll start the season on the reserve/suspended list so won't use up a roster spot.

Devey was a liability each and every time he played last year. Do a quick search of this forum for the word Devey. It's fantastic news for Patriots fans.

It really is great news and I can't believe somebody even traded for him. I'll be shocked if he's still with the 49er's this time next year.

Think the 49ers have too many TE's so they are just trying to get something in return otherwise they will just be cut.

    49ers TE's:

    Anderson, Rory
    Bell, Blake
    Carrier, Derek
    Celek, Garrett
    Davis, Vernon
    Grimble, Xavier
    McDonald, Vance
    Nelson, Kyle

Good chance this lineman will be cut before the season starts too I guess.

    Wow, that's a lot of TE's.

A lot of 49ers 3 te sets being practiced so

The annoying NFL draft hype train has kicked in already, apparently Bosanquet "could have gone #1 overall" had he declared last year... despite Clooney being dubbed the best defensive prospect in a decade" last year.

Kind of like Luck being the best QB prospect in a generation. Just like Bradford. And Stafford. And Matt Ryan. And...

Irritates the bejaysus out of me!
