Aldon Smith released. Didn't take long. Someone will take a chance on him.. But who

    From NFL.com

Aldon Smith's latest arrest will be his last one with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers announced they have released Smith just hours after the Santa Clara police announced that Smith was arrested for a hit and run, DUI and vandalism.

9ers gave him every chance and all possible support. I don't see how any other organization could think it will get something out of him.

    it's so frustrating, he's such a talent.

He is likely looking at a year long suspension after this. He also seems to be addicted to alcohol. He needs to sort out his problems first and not even think about football.

Possibly the worst thing he could do now is sign with another team.

Sounds like JT hasn't given up on him completely, but I'd say he's done as a football player for at least a year, possibly for good.

    Santa Clara police statement:
On Thursday, August 6, 2015, at about 8:46 PM., Santa Clara Officers were dispatched to Moreland Way to investigate a disturbance involving a collision. On arrival, officers learned Aldon Smith was parking his vehicle and collided with a parked vehicle. After the collision, Smith exited his vehicle and caused additional damage to the parked vehicle with his car door.

Smith then left the area not reporting the collision or leaving his identifying information at the scene. He later returned to the parking area where he was contacted by officers. Smith displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Officers administered a field sobriety test to Smith.

Smith was then arrested for being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage (DUI), Hit&Run, and Vandalism. He was transported to Santa Clara Police Department for processing and later transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
Smith did provide a PAS (preliminary alcohol screening device) sample, but the results cannot be released at this time as per our policy.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing. When completed, the case will be sent to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office for review. If the District Attorney file charges, Smith is scheduled to be arraigned October 6, 2015

It actually doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as the initial stories implied but he is held to a stricter standard, legally and otherwise. From the 9ers statement I'm fairly sure he was drunk when it happened and that's game over for him.

The whole dynamic of the camp was how he was such a better player and person. Goes to show how ****ing awful the problem is.

On a serious note though, his 3rd DUI, which in Cali equals jail time. I'd not be surprised if he got more than a year ban, and ends up being straight up kicked out of the league.

    Although if Vick didn't...

Less of a time difference, less travel. i can see teams signing up for this as opposed to London.

Yup. A 1,000,000% better chance of Mexico happening than London. London is just not going to happen.

Well as horrible as the acts Vick was part of , he was never caught for a DUI as far as I know.

You may have noticed, he got considerable jail time, which is what I was getting at.

Nothing like a few handbags to liven up an inter-team practice.

And of course the commentators (in every sport) saying "you don't want to see this" as they show it over and over in slow motion, discuss how it started and post it up to garner views on their website.

If you're a 49ers fan, just some night when nothing happens is the best night of the off season.

Watched a HOF video of bill polian and people said he was wrong to draft dwight freeney so high in the draft. Haha just shows how an inaccurate thing the draft is.

True, look at Brady at 9, nearly every team skipping on Rogers (and every team skipping twice, even 3 ti es on Wilson) and the wealth of HOF/Hall of very good UDFA guys. But to be fair, they are not so much breaking down the thousands of college players to register each year, but are more sifting g the top 2-3%. That is perhaps the trickiest task in any sport I know of, from a managerial standpoint.
