I wonder if they weren't using the zinger stumps, would the bails have fallen over?

Must be a bit of extra weight in them?

Apparently they're lighter than the ones used when it's windy.

    That's more like it

No huge hurry really. Wickets in hand far more valuable at this stage

Absolutely. The UAE crawled along until the batting PP.

Even ticking over Joyce and Porterfield should easily overtake the RR.

I did not know that. Thanks.

Reminds me of a school game I played in a long time ago.
I bowled a ball that went straight through a gap between middle and leg stumps.

They had not been set up properly.

The danger with that tactic is - lose a wicket and the new batsman is under pressure immediately to score.

    really really tense

Ireland making heavy weather of this chase

You don't want the reqd run rate up at 7 with 2 new batsmen at the crease if a couple of wickets fall now

Time to get a move on

They aren't even ticking over then, RRR is ticking up though.

    Joyce dropped.

How lucky can one man be? He needs to start smashing it, he's not getting out today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,765 ✭✭✭corny

How is Ed Joyce still in there?

    we're screwed :(

ball moving a lot under the lights, RR climbing

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,906 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

Not feeling at all confident now. I thought Joyce was our best shot. At least with Cussack there today we have an extra bat.

I am not watching this live but following on Cricinfo...... Has the pitch conditions changed under the lights or what??!!

Unless Ireland are backing themselves to score about 100 in the last 10 I can't understand what they are trying to do here

Both appear to be batting like they are facing Mitchell Johnson and co

    Get a bloody move on

ball seems to be moving a bit more. makes our decision to boiwl short even more baffling.

UAE bowling quite well though tbf

To be fair,we have always struggled with the ball, but yeah it was bleak watching the last 10 overs of the UAE innings.

    This is very tough now,

Don't understand the pessimism. As the graphic showed they were 80-4 we are 88-2 at the same stage. I'd fancy us all day to accelerate passed their run rate too in the later overs.

Chip away and don't give up easy wickets and we'll win cosily in my book.
