This Pennell fella is a very good player. Been a near flawless performance in a fullbacks duties.

Put payne or henshaw in between madigan and earls and it would look much better. D'Arcy just isnt upto much going forward.

Not the best first half from Ireland, a lot of rusty players! Madigan can't seem to find touch from any of his kicks from hand.

Well someone needs to sort these lads at half time. This is so frustrating to watch.

    Big winner: SOB, Ryan

    Winner: Earls, Strauss

Loser: McCarthy (for the concussion bin alone), Marmion, Jones

    Big loser: D'Arcy, Madigan

Needs to have an extra egg for breakfast if he plays next week for that slight bit of extra distance.

I think there's been a lot of guys playing not to get injured with an eye on next week. Except McCarthy and Ryan who have less to lose.

Might be the last time we see D'Arcy in a green jersey. Reid should probably come on at half-time.

The pack have been very disappointing; the effort at the breakdown has been lazy at best.

Not a great half of rugby to be honest, understandable as a lot of the players on both teams are rusty/haven't played together before.

I thought the opposite, the Jones run was timed well and gave us front foot ball

It was a very poor choice from Madigan and it underlines his issues as a pivot. It's exactly what he needs to cut out of his game if he is to have any future as a 10. It put us under massive pressure, nothing a pack of forwards hate more than decision making like that.

Lucky to escape a card. May be concussed.

Eh? Completely fine tackle but collision of heads as he wrapped. Referee watched it several times and saw the arm going right around the carrier and called it as such.

Can't really see any justification for Darce starting in the Six Nations. Legend, but his time has passed.

D'Arcy is no worse than anyone else lads.

He definitely looks off the pace, if he doesn't improve in the 2nd half I think it'll be the end of his chances.

Lack of cohesion at the breakdown is disappointing considering its 7 leinster players. I think D'Arcy wont go to world cup.

The pack who have won about a half dozen penalties at the breakdown and been on top of the set piece?

The backs have cost them, the pack are well on top.

D'Arcy has been the worst player in green.

Unless he leaves Leinster, he has no future at 10 in the medium term anyway. Time to focus on 12 imo. Himself and Olding would bring a lot to the Irish side as a second five-eight

Fair point, and I probably shouldn't be singling him out, but with the other options at centre, can't see him unseating anyone bar fitness issues. Hope to see more from Earls. Never a fan of his at centre, but some flashes of footwork look promising.

RTE just showing the try.....that was poor from Jones.

Lads just saying Ireland have been together in camp whereas Saxons just cobbled together - you'd think the opposite.

Irelands pack has coughed up a lot of possession at the breakdown too.

The backs aren't primarily responsible for our poor/lazy work at the breakdown. There's been some good forwards play and turn-overs, but the effort is severely lacking.

These games rarely produce cohesive displays. I think people saying players are playing themselves out of the starting team or squad are jumping the gun a bit.

D'Arcy is no worse than anyone else lads.

There is a touch of criticising him as it's flavour of the month but he has been poor. Looks off the pace and lacking confidence.

The lads don't want to injure themselves. Playing very gingerly

Lots of candidates for that title. Conan has been anonymous, Henderson is muck, Jones too.

I'm not sure I want to see burgess running down Noel Reids channel. It wouldn't be pretty.
