    If Skooter and Fran believe that only those men who are 'gay' engage in anal intercourse with other men or other sexual contact, then not only are their arguments wholly invalid and laughable but so too is their feigned concern for the quality of blood stocks.

    no I am afraid that is an issue you have with the IBTS. my suggestion is to take it up with a phelbotomist. I do try and deal with you in turn but there are many people that have varying opinions it is hard to get back to them all.

    I hope you will make allowances.

    Are you suggesting we are homophobic? Are you suggesting this is a civil rights issue?

    I dont think it is wrong or whatever but I do think with the tearing of the Anal tissue and the extra ordinary growth of HIV in the gay community (x33 more likely than a non gay Irish person) despite public health information and education make it an unsuitable pool to get donations from. Coupled with the cost of processing and destroying unsuitable blood. Also allowing MSM blood had doubled the rate of donations of HIV infections in Australia. The net yield would be 2% according to the FDA. I think one would cancel out the other, aparts from the cost of destruction.

    Now if there was a weak link in the chain of handling the blood and a unit got mislabeled or a batch of tests failed QC and were used to test blood. Anything like that could happen.

    If you want to paint me has homphobic, sure why not. Only I have a few gay aquaintences in my social club. I sat down with them with maybe 10 of them and had dinner with them with 30 other members last weekend. I would not be member if I did not want to associate with them. All stand up guys. This is a civil rights issue and the Patients groups are afraid to be called homophobic and are staying quiet.

    yes but they dont have the same HIV rates as Gay men. Also smoking Cannabis (which I do not do, do not approve of and am tested for regularily) does not exempt you from donating blood only intravenous drugs. As for St Pats I have never been there and dont comment. Ever seen a college blood drive? they turn over 500 units in a few hours in the ITs

    Are you actually serious? I mean you can't be. You don't honestly believe that eveyone who has engaged in anal sex with other men is gay or bi? I mean what kind of world do you live in?

    Edit: and this is coming from someone who is in favour of maintaining the ban!
