I'm going to see Sting at a festival in Geneva. They serve wine in bottles with actual glasses. The Swiss do things differently...

I can safely say there are less than 3 acts I have any interest in seeing at Electric Picnic, but looking forward to it a lot. Really good buzz at it. Music hipsters listen to noisecore and crust, awec. Jeeeeeezzz. People who THINK they're music hipsters listen to electronica, amirite ak?? :D

I saw Blur live when they were at the height of their fame and I didn't think they were great.

Back then they didn't have many concert songs, they've a few more now but still would be just goodish.
I've a mate who like Oasis AND blur. Unfortunately, he didn't come with a receipt. FAULTY GOODS!

I like Oasis and Blur; not a rabid fan of either but Oasis' first two albums are excellent, and Blur have a number of very good albums.

Only ever liked Oasis. Definitely Maybe and What's The Story Mornin Glory piss all over ANYTHING Blur ever did.

Oasis are incredibly bland and every song sounds the same. Blur are far greater musicians and have fantastic songs in many different styles...

I didn't like Blur much, but this made me despise them:

    James are very good tbf.

But Pulp are the best Britpop band tbh, love Jarvis Cocker's lyrics.

You could call them bland I'd guess, but I'd say it's harsh to say they all sound the same. Noel Gallagher may be a **** but he's a good songwriter (or good at stealing other people's songs, if you want to look at it that way ;)). Blur have some talented musicians alright but I wouldn't necessarily say they are way more individually talented. Better lyricists, I'll give them that. And more varied.

Caramel-Trimm Trabb-No Distance Left to Run is one of the best 3 song combinations on any album, puts anything else from that era to shame.

Oasis are a jumped up cover band, blur have a far more interesting back catalogue, certainly wouldn't pay money to see oasis.

Blur vs Oasis fight is it? Feels like I'm back in school!

Went to Blur last year. Great fun. So many hits, great atmosphere and good performance from them although Albarn's voice is ageing a little.

Reading all the posts here and nodding like I understand what you're all talking about!! I'm currently listening to nrg fm and phever fm...great dance music.

Next week I'll probably go back to listening to the stone roses or the streets maybe even the Beatles.

Can't be talking about music and not mention the passing of B.B. King last night. Whatever can be said about the likes of Oasis or Blur or Foo Fighters, that man had longevity like nobody else. In 1956, when my father was barely a year old, he played 342 gigs over the entire year and it is believed he played over 15,000 in total. And in 1988, 32 years later, he was still reaching new audiences through his collaboration with U2 on When Love Comes To Town. In 2000 he released Riding With The King with Eric Clapton proving that over 50 years after he'd started his career he still had it and was even playing Glastonbury in 2011 at 85 years of age.

Forget about your Strypes and your RHCPs. This man was the real deal and a proper legend of the music industry.

But I'm just going to post this link without comment and encourage people to read it.

Not sure there's much discussion to be had on it. I just felt it was worth a read.
