Think Mullins next monster and the Neptune winner runs tomorrow. Here's hoping Tell Us More delivers.

Prize Money increased for the Ryanair and World Hurdle. Both £300K now. Makes the decision to go for Ryanair more tempting for QMCC slowboats and GC doubtful stayers.

As I pointed out last number of years I hate scorpion as a sire.they will not battle in finish and they are serious trouble from foals(head cases).if they get their way in front they can run and look very good.they may turn out to be extreme stayers in time to come but for now I won't back any scorpion bred.

Tuesday Doesnt sell out up to last year, but i have a feeling that Club tickets may well sell out this year with the general uptick in the economy etc..

Plus it's St Paddy's Day so that could impact on the attendance with more going on this day.

Starting my countdown to Cheltenham 2015 in earnest today. Every year with the help of PaddyPowers website I like to put together an Excel spreadsheet for each race whereby I can track betting patterns. Each race gets updated on Mondays. In between each entry I have a blank line which I like to fill in with my own observations about the horse i.e. form, how it ran lto, course/festival form etc. Its laborious to start with but once I've all the races done once, its just adding updates... Doesn't make much of a difference with regards to the handicaps as I tend to look for outsider help for these, but definitely helps me form my own opinion re the pattern races.

I see the Fly is priced up shorter to win the World hurdle (8/1) then it is the Champion hurdle (12/1). Anyone else think that if he beats Jezki again in the Irish Champion at the end of the month that Mullins will call it a day with him? If not which race does he run in and who'll ride it? Paul Townend last sat on him beating Solwhit in the 2011 Irish Champion hurdle.

Just got a text form PP saying they are going NRNB in the 4 championship races at Cheltenham.

Can't see mullin's bringing over The Fly unless Faugheen and Annie Power dont turn up. Struggling to see The Fly overturning a few of them in the Champion Hurdle, unless it comes up soft-heavy.

Alot of IF's, but then again.... 12/1 NRNB could be decent if you're hoping a few of the opposition dont make The Festival.

I think 20/1 for Dynaste GC is a decent bet, and I'm already on it

Hurricane Fly will definitely go for the Champion Hurdle unless he's injured

    Waste of time bringing him.

I don't think he'll make the trip this year.

Pipe said something along the lines of he'd rather win a Ryanair again than place in a Gold Cup.

Ask him whether he'd rather place in the Ryanair or place in the Gold Cup?

There are some very tidy horses currently entered for the Ryanair so it's not as if Dynaste has already won this!

Yes, I recall him saying this. Despite this I have backed Dynaste NRNB for the Gold Cup and also took some antepost prices earlier on in the season.

You only have one or two windows of opportunity to win a Gold Cup. Dynaste has already ran well this season, and return back to the grounds were we've seen some of his best performances.

I hope Pipe goes for the big one with this horse

    Another horse that I like

Backed him in a forecast with The New One, only for Rock On Ruby to spoil the party  ... but thats some form coming out of that race, he had Ptit Zip, Grumeti and Irish Saint (all chasing now, but still) beaten and left way behind

Bookies take money for him in the Irish Champion Hurdle at the end of the month - 33/1's

Looks like the World Hurdle (if anything!!!) will be his aim this season, narrowly beaten by Zarandar at Auteuil towards the back of last year (giving weight) over 3 miles. He's an interesting sort to keep an eye on

Heading over for the week. About the 10th year since i first went, couldn't miss it now..

The madness of the Gold Cup day is overplayed a bit, its grand and well worth going to..

I love the months of hard work analysing all runners and the pressure lifting when the flag drops for the supreme.

Two days there and hopefully two here in pub putting my mates that aren't into racing onto winners. (One of my mates wasn't that into racing two years ago and now it's not stop texts and bigger bets than me.) All going well it turns into champagne Friday afternoon

Just looking at the RSA it's without a doubt one of the standouts of the week. What a quality field it is i am really looking forward to it. Been backing The Young Master at 16/1 the last few weeks but it really is wide open.

their thinking of running the Young master in the National hunt chase which I think is the 4 miler. I find that odd

I would be very surprised if he runs in the 4 miler he looks top class i think he is a future gold cup winner.

I think he should be fav for the RSA and 14/1 is huge.. Id love a bit of NRNB on that race for him , and as soon at it comes and he is more than 8/1-10/1, it'll be great value..

    Cheltenham Foxhunter's Chase

    Paint The Clouds 7/1

My first antepost bet for Cheltenham comes in the shape of Paint The Clouds 7/1 for the Foxhunters Chase I genuinely think he's a penalty kick as long as the ground is decent as I think he's that far ahead of anything that will line up against him. Now a 10 year old, Paint The Clouds has had an injury hit career but Warren Greatrex's inmate seems to be sound for the first time in a few years and had a perfect season last year winning all 3 of his Hunter Chases in facile fashion as he signed off the season with a bloodless victory in the Champion Hunter Chase at Stratford last May taking his record to 5 wins from 5 over regulation fences. Although he's probably not faced anything substantial in those 5 easy wins, there's no doubt in my mind that he's the best Hunter Chaser around. Back in 2011, Paint The Clouds racked up 5 straight wins (3 over hurdles, two over fences) before a handicap success off a mark of 130 at Cheltenham that October where he was dismounted after the line and Warren Greatrex has since been revealed that McCoy told him he'd win the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle after that win. Obviously he didn't say fit then but he's now proven himself to be fit but I think it says so, so much about how highly he is rated that after a 518 day absence he made his reappearance from injury in the 2013 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys Hurdle at the Festival. Unfortunately he pulled muscles during that race after the ground went soft but thankfully he's back to full health now. Rated 137 after his Hunter Chase successes last year, I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll be entered in the Grand National by the Greatrex team and off that I mark if he jumped well and stayed the mammoth trip I think he'd take a boat load of beating - such is how highly I rate him. I'll be backing him every week between now and March and I genuinely believe if the ground hasn't turned soft (which is a risk) he'll be victorious if he jumps around.

    €1 EW Lucky 15 :
Jezki 11/2 - Champion Hurdle (Cant see it out of the frame)
Ballycasey 33/1 - Champion Chase (Question marks about all the fancied ones)
Rock On Ruby 10/1 - World hurdle
Holywell 12/1 - Gold Cup (done me well at festival before )

    Winnings : €45K

    easy peesy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 293 ✭✭nobody told me

Do you think he will run before the festival? If he doesn't he probably wont contract much in price and given that he is ground dependent would you not be better waiting till closer the time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,123 ✭✭✭Backstreet Moyes

Anybody hear anything about Konig Dax he is making his debut tomorrow. He beat Douvan when they faced each other over in France. McCain bought him for 180k and he makes his debut tomorrow.

If he wins well tomorrow he will shorten for the Supreme Novices .

At 20/1 i am going to throw a sneaky fiver if wins well its a bit of value and if he loses it's only a fiver.

No offence meant but think Ballycasey is 33/1 to show up in CC. He couldn't go with them on bog ground in Leopardstown so has no hope over 2m on better ground come March. Will be Ryanair if anything

It was infuriating in the weeks before it asking how he was betting on the the championship races and he couldn't name a horse.

Class looking field, I really like Apache Stronghold at 16s, Meades form at the festival is a worry though.
