Loading Ready Run have gone that way as well, after using Kickstarter the year before to fund their final year of sketches.
It is an odd one alright.

Even retro aura and game boy world have toe with patreon. Since you are paying a small amount every month it just seems like a much more reliable source of income.

A small miracle happened today. Misadventures of Tron Bonne is up on PSN in the US. Hopefully it means the Megaman Legends games get a release.

Made a big boo boo on my MSX hunt. Went back to Osaka to pick some stuff up and a MSX. The PC engine selection was so good there I spent the money instead on PC engine games and left the MSX computers behind to pick up the one in super potato Tokyo.

Went out to akihabara today and to my surprise they had a MSX 2+ for sale for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately the great price was because it was broken, video problems apparently. All that is left is another msx2 for quite a high price but it's also incredibly heavy, no way I'd get it on the plane with everything else and shipping even with Japan post's great rates would be well over 100 notes. Seriously, it's unreal the weight of it. So looks like I'm off home with loads of MSX gear and no way to play it unless someone knows how to fix a 2+ :)

no problems, I can generously offer to look after all your games while you find yourself an MSX2 . :P

how much was an MSX2 or 2+ there ?
There's a few guys on MSX.org that can fix and upgrade MSX computers but with shipping and all you're better off getting new ones (from them) directly.

I love the ruse that Retr0 has been spending his time going around different shops when the real truth is that he has spent weeks studying under the Galgun Masters in Japan.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,268 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

A MSX 2+ is anywhere between 14000 and 24800 from what I saw. There was one in super potato Osaka for 34800 but the price increase was because it came with a RGB cable. Game Tenteidan in Osaka had a few MSX and MSX 2 machines, the only others on saw where in the super potatos and they had one each.

I saw two MSX 2+, one in Osaka which was not for sale, the other for 24800 in Tokyo Super Potato but it was that price because it was broken. They also had a boxed turbo R but pretty sure that wasn't for sale either.

What I'd be worried about getting a European MSX is that it will be 50hz which is just poison for action games and especially Konami stuff for the music. Also if you want a lend of Space Manbow for review I could do that just look after my precious!

I don't suppose you visted any sites from Shenmue while you were out there?

I came to Japan with 16 kilos of luggage but my limit is 28 kilos going back. How the hell am I going to make 32 kilos of Hentai into 12!

You should probably just ask around about where sailors hang out just to be on the safe side.

Wow Retr0, that flight home must have been arduous, you looked drained! And why is your suitcase handle so... tacky....

Yeah I suppose so. If I ever made it over there I'd go visit... but then I'm a stupidly massive fan of that series.

Something for all you jaded Souls fans out there, especially now you've finished Bloodborne, Malebolgia
Looks like a simpler, cel shaded Souls clone, seems to be reviewed well, only €8.49 as well, for the PC

An indie game rogue like inspired by dark souls seems to be the new military fps.

Missed my flight home because... Well I'm an idiot is the only reason, but while I was missing my flight I met the guy behind La Mulana and played some La Mulana 2 (very early so far), played some Mighty No. 9 which is lots of fun, and also the PC port of D4 (basically working perfectly but a lack of polish such as no anti aliasing ao far). Also played a few other less impressive Japanese indie games. Didn't get to meet Swery though :(

Apparently the Splatoon test run this lunchtime went very very well, sadly I'm on duty so no fun for me :(
Less than 3 weeks until release so I can't wait.
I've my €35 copy coming from Game seek.

Played for an hour their earlier... it's fun... but it will be interesting to see how things balance out.

Having the roller seems to be most powerful... Ideally you need two people on rollers and then 2 others with guns to cover them.

It's all pretty faced paced so I hadn't a clue how power ups worked or if you could change your weapon on death.
