Dammit I really have to get back in here more.

I have a quick question if anyone can answer it though!
Super Nintendo game. Side scroller. Main character in a white suit and kinda wizard hat. Used to whip people with the hat as an attack. Any ideas?

    Earthworm Jim?

Definitely not. Before Jim and less detailed. Earlier in the consoles life.
I should point out I'm just a go between here

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

    Was it definitely SNES?

White suit and hat reminded me of Moonwalker on Mega Drive.

That's a distinct possibility, we've all been guilty of mixing up stuff in our heads at some stage!

Sounds like Moonwalker on the Megadrive.

There's also Spike McFang on the SNES?

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,054 ✭✭✭✭Professey Chin

Wouldnt be either of those. She did mention that the attack was more of a headbutt whip which made me think of blue suede in ClayFighter but she insisted its a side scroller.
Apparently her brother remembers it too so Ill see if I can find any proper details

Looking to order a common Japanese PSP title off eBay, fairly uniform price across sellers but wondering if there's any particular one people have had good experiences with? solarisjapan? play-japan? jp-gift?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 15,183 Mod ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

I buy a lot of stuff from hit-Japan on eBay. Although all Japanese sellers I've dealt with have been excellent so I wouldn't really worry if the feedback is good.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before. There's a show on tomorrow on BBC2 at 7pm, collection of over 300 arcade machines. May be worth a watch.

^ I've had that on the tv a few evenings while doing assignments. One chap had an immense cd collection & spends £150 a day on it! Another chap had tons of Star Wars toys etc

In an effort to restore the balance of the amount of cocktails that have been bastardised lately I got these from another fb page. I would love to be posting these in the get something new thread but unfortunately it's not mine.:(

Speaking of Star Wars, I just saw that new trailer, looks pretty good even to a non-fanboy like myself.

I'm not ashamed to admit I succumbed and descended to total fanboy level when I seen it :o

I don't know how people do it, about twenty or thirty a week is enough for me:( I suppose if you can afford it fair enough, there no point splurging if it would be better spent on the family or home. You have to get the priorities right, there's plenty of reasonably priced decent games that don't cost the earth.

At £150 a day, it's safe to say it's a sickness and nothing else. £50k a year sterling apparently he spends.

Would you not lose some of the fun in collecting if you were spending €150 a day though. I mean for that kind of budget you could have pretty much anything you wanted. Part of the fun for me is snagging a great last minute deal on eBay or spotting a game I've wanted to play for €2 at a car boot sale.

I think so. You'd get the same effect as flash card syndrome, in that, you have everything but none of it means anything to you

I find if you get a load of games in one go a lot will sit in the backlog. If a collection is built up over time you have more time to appreciate the games and play them as you get them. This is why I do wonder why people go for a full library on a particular system, too many games that you may never actually play.

Not to mention the tripe that you'd need to buy in order to have a full set. I think that's where you start crossing over into collecting as a hobby itself (like antiques, stamps etc.) rather than having a large collection of games to play if you get my drift.

It's probably the people like this that have the prices so high, if they want the game they will simply outbid you at any cost. I haven't been to a boot sale in a good while, any tasty stuff seems to be hoovered up early in the morning.

You guys get BBC2 over the water, right? Be sure to catch tomorrow's episode of 'Collectaholics' at 19:00, one of the 3 topics is an arcade collection worth a gonad or ten ;) (I'm informed it's U72's Arcade Club collection over at J+)

Quality over quantity, it's the only way to go for. I understand that some people go for the full collections and respect that, but they're just not for me.
