Oh yeah another 'recreation'.. Is this FGPA or emulation ?

In somewhat related news the Spectrum Vega handheld has lost some of its senior devs allegedly...

Did you ever miss a package ? Had a look on their website and it doesn't really say what happens
They text the day before and say "we'll come on the 19th, text 1 to move it to the next day" and then they text when they'll text an hour before "we'll be there between 10 and 11" so I think they make it easy not to miss a parcel.

Went to play tenchu 3 on the ps2 last night and I couldn't find it so decided to put on tenchu fatal shadows instead. To my suprise I saw the from software logo when I booted it up.

I had always ignored the game when it originally came out but it's actually really good and of course pretty hard

Kind of sums up much of From Software's bleak fantasy stuff right there, from Kings Field to Dark Souls and Bloodborne!

Yeah pretty much, but it's not hard due to bad design or just huge ammounts of enemy hp...if you die it's usually your own fault

And Demon's Souls let's not forget. As good as Dark Souls and Bloodborne are, neither had the same impact as playing Demon's for the first time.

So I'm still waiting on my arcade artwork book. I think it’s currently in parcel motel and will be out to be later today.
For those that have got theirs, is it true there are a number of errors in the book(both graphical and in the text)? A few people commenting on the Kickstarter page think there might be pages missing as the TOC doesn't match up with the page numbers.

    Anyone?

Mines PM as well. Still non sign.
    Shame about the content etc.
Listened to Tim on the 10p podcast recently.
Went through some tough times during this and it nearly fell through. Sam Dyer helped him out with Bitmap Books, still no excuse though.

Yeah, he had a rough time of it with his personal life. But even before that he was incompetent and I'd never back anything from him again(unless Sam was also involved in the project).
Sam is the man when it comes to knowing how to run a book project.

Nobody here backed the history of wrestling video games book did they?

September 2014 was the estimated delivery date

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,912 ✭✭✭Steve X2

Well, according to my Nest cam the book has landed at my house. So I’ll have a look over it later and see if any errors pop out.

I just hate when you notice these things in a final product, so there’s no chance to get it fixed. It happened in one of Chris Wilkins Kickstarter books and it annoyed me no end(I don’t think I’ve opened that book since).

There are graphical and text errors in a kick starter project this long overdue? You've got to be kidding?

Jesus Christ, imagine what it would have been like if delivered on time.

From what others have said it seems so :(

Whatever about the text/book errors, there really shouldn't be any graphical errors or mistakes as that was kind of the whole thing wasn't it. He purchased a lot of artwork, scanned it and was restoring it, and that was his passion and where the book came from!
Anyway, from all accounts the book does looks great. Hopefully there aren't to many stand out errors.

I cant comment on if there is errors in it because im no expert in spotting these things, but what i can say is the book looks amazing to me, its big, colorful and is great to flip through. i think its my favorite of the books so far from the Commodore\megadrive ones etc on kickstarter. im happy with it. next up for me from kickstart is the lampster i think, that one.. i cannot wait to get!

In other news, I see there's a new flash cart on the market for the Wonder Swan. Might be something that'd get me back involved with the thing.

Ah yes that lamp thing, I’m on that as well :)
I got a few kickstarters delivered to me in the last week or so, but also a few failures that cost me a bit. My laser cutter/engraver has fallen through and that was €540. They say that they will be refunding everyone but I’ll believe it when it’s sitting in my account.
There is another laser cutter/engraver kickstarter running at the moment that’s a lot better and from a team that has already delivered a product. It’s a good bit more expensive and I’m not sure I want to dump the guts of 2k into it.

So many disappointing Kickstarters for me over the last year, I’m less and less likely to take a risk these days on stuff that costs more than 100 or so.

Is that the Mr beam? I was looking at that myself but didn't have the money :(

I spent over 200 on a magnetic floating delorean 4 months ago on indiegogo, i havent heard a peep out of them since.. starting to get worried haha its due in july, if it wasnt for the fact its a legit toy company from what i can see, i would be going mad at myself right now. hopefully they follow through.

Mr Beam II, they did the first one in 2014 I think and it all went to plan.
Seems like a great product, but I'm not sold on it yet.

Hopefully the Arduboy will be worth the wait, seems like an age ago since it's Kickstarter.

Yeah, that seems to be delayed but going ok. People have got them, but its very slow going.
I went for a 5 pack of those in each colour, not sure why :)

Better than the Megadrive book you reckon? Wow, really excited to see it now, wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near that level of quality.

well haha, to put in perspective, i wasnt a huge megadrive fan! i never had one when i was younger, i was always a commodore\nintendo owner. so it might not have appealed to me as much. I love arcade artwork though.

Has anybody preordered the Super Famicom book from Bitmap books yet? Try as I might I'm not liking the packaging on the limited edition myself, it just looks cheap and tacky. I think a box in the style of a SFC itself would have looked a lot better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,999 ✭✭✭Nerdkiller1991

Guys...it's time for the return of the king (though that's not the series that this video is referencing).

If it's as hard as the video games I can see people flipping tables!

I'm tempted but I'm in exactly the same boat as yourself. It's by the British artist Will Overton who draws bizarre pseudo Manga styles, which I think by and large are terrible.

They're the euroshooter equivalent of artwork. They appear to look like their Japanese counterparts, until you look closely and see all the dynamics that made the Japanese stuff work are missing and you're left with a dull, boring imitation.

I really like the text only cover. Maybe the artwork is on a dust jacket that I can take off and lash in the bin :pac:
