Third time's a charm  After a 35:06 (Raheny) and a 35:04 (Terenure) I wasn't convinced tonight would be my lucky night but couldn't have asked for better conditions. Nearly killed me though...;)

800m time trial this evening on the grass track in TCD with some clubmates. We had to shoo a few beer drinking students off lane 1 before we started  . Great evening for it - a bit warm but that doesn't really matter when it's only half a mile, and I was very lucky to have a faster clubmate to chase :D Glad to have this one in the bag.

Yay well done, you smashed your target! What were the splits as a matter of interest? You should be thinking of the mile time now ;)

Thanks Ososlo, I'm happy to timekeep for anyone who wants to go for any of the shorter round numbers, seeing as I won't be seeing any sort of pace on my Garmin for a while, I can live vicariously through y'all.

Cheers, Anna. If I'd crashed and burned I would only have had the D3 residents to explain myself to ;)

I'd love to go for it, but I can't :( Pesky base building.

a mile time trial doesn't count as racing, does it? ;)

Edit: Can't believe I'm encouraging you!!!

Graded meet 400m in Tallaght this evening for anybody up for giving it a go. All standards welcome at these meets. Only requirement is that you are a member of a club.

Can't do it as not member of club but for interest's sake, what pace would one have to run at to do at 400m in 70 seconds? Probably a stupid question but if you don't ask!!!:pac:

That's about 4:40ish mile pace. No need to be thinking about paces, garmins, heart rate monitors etc for sprint distances though.

ah yeah I know that it was just to see what that actually means in terms of speed.

4:40!!!!!!Feck that's fast! Don't think I could run for 10 secs at that pace.

Just because you guys don't think you can manage it doesn't mean you can't still try. 3 years of these tables and not one has even tried to run a 400. Gradeds are welcoming meets. Tallaght tonight and Santry in 2 weeks time are the 2 400m races remaining.

Don't laugh - serious question. Would you have to use blocks for a 400m ?

Yes :( We should meet up and do a boards block practice and throw in a 400 TT while we're at it ;)

Yeh blocks are mandatory for 400m. Wouldn't let that put you off though.
